Saratoga: Sanagas best in John's Call

Tod Marks
Sanagas, with Rajiv Maragh ridin, wins the John's Call.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Imagine how good Sanagas might be if he could run a straight line.

One race after attempting to lug in, Sanagas attempted to lug out in the stretch of Friday's $81,000 John's Call Stakes at Saratoga. Yet despite his desire to visit the outside rail, Sanagas won the John's Call by 2 1/4 lengths over Center Divider, who nailed Bold Hawk in the last jump for second.

OCEANPORT, N.J – Turning for home last Sunday in the $1 million Haskell Invitational, J J’s Lucky Train looked poised to hit the board. The colt, a $40,000 claim in his debut here last summer, was right in the mix in his first crack at Grade 1 runners.

J J’s Lucky Train finished fourth, edged out of third by Belmont Stakes winner Ruler On Ice by only a half-length.

Blind Luck has solid work

Hoofprints, Inc.
Blind Luck, with Garrett Gomez riding, wins the Delaware Handicap.

DEL MAR, Calif. – Blind Luck, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2010 and a three-time stakes winner this year, breezed five furlongs in 1:00.40 on Friday, preparing for a start later this month, possibly against males in the $1 million Pacific Classic here on Aug. 28.

Blind Luck worked alone and galloped out strongly, which is typical of her workouts, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said.

Hollendorfer is between the Pacific Classic and the Personal Ensign Stakes for fillies and mares at Saratoga on Aug. 28 for Blind Luck’s next start.
