Parx Racing: Runnin Bull must continue to improve in allowance

The 2-year-old colt Runnin Bull, who has steadily improved his Beyer Speed Figures in each of four starts since his career debut with a lowly 26, may need to move forward once more to secure his second lifetime victory in Monday’s featured $47,000 allowance at Parx Racing.

Runner-up in the $84,000 Dover Stakes at Delaware Park, Runnin Bull will face five other 2-year-olds, including an uncoupled pair of last-out maiden winners for trainer John Servis, in a first-level allowance at one mile on the main track.

Breeders' Cup: Announce's connections say scratch was right call

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The stewards' decision Friday to scratch Announce from the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf on the advice of the track veterinarian was the correct one, according to Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for the filly's owner-breeder, Juddmonte Farms.

Breeders' Cup: My Miss Aurelia to winter in California

My Miss Aurelia will winter with trainer Steve Asmussen's West Coast string of horses.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  After dominating the East Coast during her 2-year-old season, My Miss Aurelia is headed west to prepare her for 3-year-old campaign.

The morning after My Miss Aurelia completed a perfect season by winning Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies by three lengths at Churchill Downs, trainer Steve Asmussen said the filly would spend the winter at Santa Anita. Asmussen trains My Miss Aurelia for the partnership of Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton, who both are based out west.

Secret Circle, Shumoos heading to California after Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint

Secret Circle and Shumoos, the 1-2 finishers in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint, will have winter campaigns in California.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top two finishers from the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint, victorious Secret Circle and runner-up Shumoos, are California bound for the winter.

Although Secret Circle is no stranger there, Shumoos is, having made all of her starts prior to the Juvenile Sprint in Britain.

The lone filly to run in the Juvenile Sprint, she has now joined the stable of Southern California-based trainer Ben Cecil. She had been trained by Brian Meehan.

“It’s nice to pick up ones like that, that’s for sure,” Cecil said Saturday.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The victory by Royal Delta in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic on Friday night at Churchill Downs assuredly clinched the Eclipse Award for her as champion 3-year-old filly, and likely increased the auction price she will fetch on Tuesday at Keeneland, when she will be sold as part of the dispersal of the estate of her owner, the late Prince Saud bin Khaled of Saudi Arabia.

Weakened by several races with heavy favorites and two late scratches of horses during warm-ups, the six Breeders’ Cup races held on Friday at Churchill Downs attracted total commingled wagering of $42,490,444, down 6.3 percent from last year’s total of $45,393,976, according to figures released late on Friday.

Breeders' Cup: Flat Out slim choice in early Classic betting, favored in two-day daily double

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Flat Out is a slight favorite over Kelso Handicap winner Uncle Mo for Saturday's $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic following advance wagering. Both horses are listed at 7-2, but Flat Out is favored by approximately $3,400, Churchill Downs officials announced.

Havre de Grace, the lone filly in the field, is the third choice at 9-2.

With just $71,599 bet in the early win pool as of 8 p.m. Friday, however, the early betting represents just a sliver of the total that will be ultimately be wagered.

Royal Delta captures the Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic to top the Friday card at Churchill Downs.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Royal Delta staked her claim to the Eclipse Award as champion 3-year-old filly by outrunning fellow fillies It’s Tricky and Plum Pretty, plus six older rivals, when capturing the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic under the lights on Friday night at Churchill Downs.

The Ladies’ Classic was the last of six Breeders’ Cup races to be run on Friday. There are nine more Saturday, highlighted by the richest of the 15 races, the $5 million Classic.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It's true. The Americans weren't up to the task in a Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf with an international flavor. But neither were the Europeans. Perfect Shirl, in from Canada, scored the second straight Filly and Mare Turf shocker, upsetting the $2 million race at 27-1.
