LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three Chimneys Farm has retained Ken McLean as its pedigree consultant following the departure of Anne Peters, who has gone out on her own.
McLean got his start in 1985 as matings adviser for Overbrook Farm when the late W.T. Young was building his broodmare band. He also has served as matings consultant for the late Sheikh Maktoum al-Maktoum's Gainsborough Farm operations.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Congrats, who is neck and neck with Bernardini for 2010’s leading freshman sire title, will relocate from Vinery’s Florida farm to its Kentucky division, his majority owner John Sykes has announced.
He will stand for $15,000, up from his $4,500 advertised 2010 fee.
Travers winner Afleet Express has been retired and will head to stud at Gainesway Farm, where his sire, Afleet Alex, also stands.
Gainesway has not set the 3-year-old colt's stud fee yet.
Afleet Express's last race was the Travers, in which he beat Fly Down by a nose.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Frank Stronach hit the headlines again Tuesday at Keeneland’s November breeding stock sale, swooping for the $2,550,000 broodmare Dreamtheimpossible, the last of three mares offered in foal to hot sire Galileo.
Awesome of Course, sire of undefeated Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Awesome Feather, will relocate from Oklahoma to Journeyman Stud in Florida for 2011.
A 10-year-old Awesome Again horse, Awesome of Course had been standing at Legend Farm, where he had a $1,750 stud fee this year. In 2011, he will stand for $5,000, according to a release from Journeyman owners Crystal and Brent Fernung.
Malibu Moon's stud fee will jump from $40,000 to $60,000 in 2011, Spendthrift Farm announced Monday.
A 13-year-old A. P. Indy horse, Malibu Moon currently ranks third on the general sire list and has enjoyed a banner year with such 2010 Grade 1 winners as Life at Ten, Devil May Care, and Malibu Prayer, among other Grade 1 performers.
