Ruler of The World retired, to stand in Ireland

English classic winner Ruler of The World has been retired from racing and will begin his stallion career at Coolmore’s Irish base in Co. Kildare, Ireland, for the 2015 breeding season. A fee will be announced at a later date.

“Ruler of The World has a recurrence of the muscle injury in his hind quarters that he suffered earlier in the summer and although it’s not critical, we have advised that he be retired to stud,” said Ballydoyle vet John Halley.

Boisterous, Unusual Heatwave to stand at Tommy Town

Boisterous, who won the Man o’ War in July, worked a half-mile in 48.12 seconds on Monday morning over the outer turf course.

The stakes winners Boisterous and Unusual Heatwave will begin stallion careers at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez, Calif., in 2015, farm manager Mike Allen said on Thursday.

Boisterous, a 7-year-old horse by Distorted Humor, retired earlier this month after winning 12 of 35 starts and earning $1,458,792. He will stand for $5,000.

Will Take Charge tops Three Chimneys fees for 2015

Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Ky. has released the its advertised stud fees for the upcoming 2015 breeding season.

Topping the list is Will Take Charge, a 4-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song and the champion sophomore male of 2013, who will stand his debut season for an advertised fee of $30,000.

WinStar Farm releases 2015 stud fees

WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., has released the advertised fees for its 22-horse stallion roster for the 2015 breeding season.

Flagship sire Distorted Humor once again tops the WinStar roster with an advertised fee of $100,000. The 21-year-old son of Forty Niner’s fee remains unchanged from the 2014 breeding season.

Ocala Stud releases 2015 stud fees

J. Michael O’Farrell’s Ocala Stud in Ocala, Fla. has released the advertised fees for its 2015 stallion roster, led by newcomer Uncaptured.

Uncaptured, the 2012 Canadian Horse of the Year, will stand for an advertised fee of $6,000 in his debut season at stud.

The fees for the returning stallions remain largely unchanged, with a pair of reductions.

Laurie's Rocket to enter stud in Arkansas

Laurie's Rocket has six wins and earned more than $500,000 in his career.

Laurie’s Rocket, whose two career stakes win came in Arkansas, will be returning to the state to launch his stallion career in 2015. The horse will stand at McDowell Farm in Sparkman, Ark., and his fee has been set at $1,000 live foal, said farm manager Bill McDowell.

Laurie’s Rocket is due to arrive from Kentucky in about a week, said McDowell.

Major California operation Golden Eagle Farm closing

Golden Eagle Farm, one of California’s leading boarding and breeding operations, will close Oct. 31 after four decades in business.

The 560-acre farm in Ramona, Calif., will be sold, and its lone remaining sire, Stormin Fever, will relocate to Rancho Temescal in Piru, Calif., for the 2015 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $2,500.

Cape Blanco relocating to Japan for 2015

Cape Blanco spent the 2014 breeding season based at Ashford Stud.

Turf champion and young sire Cape Blanco will relocate to Japan for the 2015 breeding season, Racing Post reports.

The 7-year-old son of Galileo was previously based at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., during the Northern Hemisphere breeding season. He will ship directly to the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association’s base in Hokkaido, Japan after completing the current Southern Hemisphere season at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand.

Cape Blanco’s first foals are yearlings of 2014. He covered 141 mares during this year’s breeding season.

Declaration of War relocating to Ashford Stud

Declaration of War, a Group 1 winner in England, will stand at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky., for the 2015 breeding season, for a fee to be announced at a later date.

The 5-year-old son of War Front stood his initial season at Coolmore’s headquarters in Co. Tipperary, Ireland, for an advertised fee of about $50,651 (40,000 Euros).

Number of mares bred increases in 2014

The Jockey Club released its Report of Mares Bred statistics for the 2014 breeding season, which revealed the first increase in North American mares bred since 2005.

The breed organization reports that 1,547 stallions covered 34,540 mares in North America in 2014, representing approximately 92 percent of the mares that will eventually be reported as bred this year. According to historical trends, The Jockey Club expects to receive reports representing an additional 2,000 to 3,000 mares bred during the 2014 breeding season.
