Eye of the Leopard will stand in Ontario for 2015

Eye of the Leopard will not run on dirt in the BC Marathon, said his new trainer, D. Wayne Lukas.

Canadian champion and classic winner Eye of the Leopard will return to his home country to stand the 2015 breeding season at Colebrook Farms in Uxbridge, Ontario.

The 8-year-old Eye of the Leopard, a son of A.P. Indy who is closely related to several other Canadian champions, was retired to stand at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Ky., in 2013. He will stand for $5,000 in Canadian funds in his initial season at Colebrook.

Gaines purchased the 19-year-old mare Dance Review, by Northern Dancer, for $110,000 from the dispersal of the late Thomas Mellon Evans’s Buckland Farm in 1997, they knew exactly what they were doing.

Pomeroy, Flashy Bull sold to stand in Saudi Arabia

Stallions Pomeroy and Flashy Bull have been purchased by Saudi Arabian-based Aysoob Stud Farm, and will stand at Suliman ibn Zu’air Stud Farm in the same country during the 2015 breeding season.

Pomeroy, a 13-year-old son of Boundary, previously stood at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y., while Flashy Bull, an 11-year-old Holy Bull horse, resided at Penn Ridge Farm in Harrisburg, Penn.

“We are excited to add two such accomplished stallions to our roster and think they will be embraced by our breeders,” said Abdulaziz Albarjes, owner of Aysoob Stud Farm.

Oldest Secretariat stallion dies in Texas

Secretariat dominates the 1973 Belmont Stakes. Pimlico will hold events next month to recognize the 40th anniversary of his Triple Crown win.

Country Side, believed to be the oldest living stallion by Secretariat, died Aug. 26 at Diamond J Farms in Needville, Texas, at the age of 29.

Country Side won 2 of 24 starts racing in the U.S. and France from 1987 to 1990, earning $26,232. Following his retirement from the track, the horse was sent to a California farm, which Diamond J owners Joycelyn and Jeff Kasmir visited in 1996. The couple purchased Country Side as a wedding present to each other, and sent him to stand at their Texas farm.

Aikenite moves to Bridlewood Farm in Florida

Grade 2 winner Aikenite will relocate to John and Leslie Malone’s Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla., for the 2015 breeding season.

The 7-year-old son of Yes It’s True stood his first two seasons at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Ky. His first foals will be yearlings of 2015.

Aikenite won five of 24 starts during his on-track career for earnings of $875,385, highlighted by victories in the Grade 2 Churchill Downs Stakes and Commonwealth Stakes. His six additional graded placings include the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity, Hopeful Stakes, and Forego Stakes.

Trinniberg leads Rockridge Stud roster

Rockridge Stud in Hudson, N.Y., has released the advertised 2015 fees for its six-horse stallion roster.

Leading the group is champion sprinter Trinniberg, whose first foals will arrive in 2015. The 5-year-old son of Teuflesberg’s fee of $7,500 will remained unchanged for the upcoming breeding season.

All other fees for the returning Rockridge stallions will be unchanged from 2014.

New to the roster for 2015 is Honorable Dillon, a 4-year-old Grade 2-winning son of Tapit, who will stand his debut season for a fee of $5,000.

Adena Springs North releases 2015 fees

Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs North in Aurora, Ontario has released the advertised 2015 stud fees for its nine-horse stallion roster.

Three stallions will command the co-highest fee: Milwaukee Brew, Sligo Bay, and Silent Name, who will each stand for $6,612 ($7,500 Canadian).

Milwaukee Brew, a 17-year-old son of Wild Again, will see no change in his advertised fee. His runners are led in 2014 by Prince of Wales Stakes winner Coltimus Prime.

Laugh Track to Double LL Farms in New Mexico

Grade 3 winner Laugh Track will debut at stud in 2015 at Double LL Farms in Bosque, N.M., after being purchased at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

The 5-year-old son of Distorted Humor will stand for a private treaty as property of Mike Abraham, who bought Laugh Track out of the horses of racing age portion of the Keeneland November sale for $125,000.

Balance the Books to stand at Royal Pegasus in Azerbaijan

Grade 2 winner Balance the Books will begin his stallion career in 2015 for Mammad Huseynov’s Royal Pegasus Farm in Azerbaijan after being purchased at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Royal Pegasus, which has farms in Baku, Azerbaijan and Lexington, Ky., bought the 4-year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid as a stallion prospect for $20,000. He will soon enter pre-export quarantine to be shipped overseas in December.

Strong Contender relocates to Indiana

Strong Contender will stand at R Star Stallions in Indiana for 2015.

Grade 2 winner and sire Strong Contender has relocated to stand at R Star Stallions at RichWine in Anderson, Ind., for the 2015 breeding season. His introductory fee at R Star will be $3,000.

The 11-year-old Maria's Mon horse, who entered stud in 2007, most recently stood at Hallmarc Stallions in Ocala, Fla., where his fee was also $3,000.

“We believe this stallion will do well in Indiana,” R Star Stallions’ Leigh Ann Hopper said. “[His progeny] are proven winners amongst great company.”
