SA RACE 3: BIG SUMMER has the tactical speed to stay close and a decent late kick. She should be coming at the leaders late. The layoff is a clear concern, but if she’s ready she’s going to be tough to stave off. RUGELACH is wide, but she has the speed to get immediate position. Her steady Beyers are another plus. (2)
Fresh off boldly forecasting a Hades defeat of Fierceness, things can hardly get worse with this Weekend GamePlan. Sure, process, not results, but rewatching Fierceness’s pre-Florida Derby breezes, he looks as invincible as he proved. Can anyone in New York, Kentucky, or California unseat him as the Derby favorite? Nope.

RACE 6: DREAMS OF TOMORROW is back on his preferred turf surface following a short layoff, during which he worked strongly on the dirt at his Payson Park base. He fits the nonwinners of a race since July 31 condition of this event nicely, with his last score coming in a conditioned allowance/optional claimer May 11 at Belmont. FAR BRIDGE and LUCKY SCORE were both competitive in graded stakes last year before getting some time off and are obvious contenders with the hot Ortiz brothers along for the ride. (3)
RACE 10: SURPRISINGLY has posted mediocre works on the dirt at Palm Beach Downs (posted on XBTV) since her neck loss to the talented Didia in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf, in which she beat future graded stakes winners Ruby Nell and Chili Flag. Grade 1 winner MCKULICK may not be cranked up for her first outing since the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf, but she’s hard to ignore with Irad Ortiz Jr. back riding for good layoff trainer Chad Brown.
