Hawaii sports betting bill garners unexpected Senate approval

In a dramatic reversal of fortune, Hawaii is knocking on the door of legalizing online sports betting.

The Hawaii State Senate on Tuesday evening passed House Bill 1308 with several small amendments, 15-10. The bill will now return to the state's House for a vote on concurrence.

HB 1308 originally passed the House in a 35-15 vote.

Missouri sports betting license application process could begin May 15

The Missouri Gaming Commission says it is planning to open the sports betting license application process by May 15.

The MGC has posted the announcement on its website as it continues the process of launching live sports wagering.

Nevada Rep. seeks to remove federal sports betting tax, change slot machine reporting

Nevada Rep. Dina Titus is behind two pieces of gambling legislation in the world of legal sports betting and casino gaming.

Titus (D-District 1) last month reintroduced The Discriminatory Gaming Tax Repeal Act, which would remove the federal 0.25 percent tax on all sports bets placed in the U.S. She also last week reintroduced the Shifting Limits on Thresholds (SLOT) Act to update the reporting threshold on slot machine winnings, which hasn’t changed in nearly 50 years.

Connecticut proposes gambling limits; N.J. poll shows support for sportsbook ad regulation

Connecticut lawmakers want to implement a ceiling on the amount of money that legal sportsbooks can accept from customers.

The House General Law Committee introduced bill SB 1464, which would set a maximum wager amount for all sports bettors and allow Connecticut to join the Multi-State Internet Gaming agreement, which would open the doors to interstate poker games.
