Bourbonette serves as rubber match for White Rocks, Admit

Coady Media
White Rocks has had some added conditioning and relaxation leading up to the Bourbonette.

Admit had an experience edge on White Rocks when she defeated her in a one-mile maiden special weight in December at Turfway Park. When the fillies met again in last month’s Cincinnati Trophy, White Rocks had the race flow and pace advantage to score a victory.

Redline has the speed to utilize his rail draw in the Phoenix Gold Cup.

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Mother Nature remains unbeaten.

Last Saturday, Turf Paradise was slated to present its biggest day of the meet: Phoenix Gold Cup day. However, heavy rain in the area in the days prior resulted in a deteriorating track, necessitating cancellation of that program.

A week later, the postponed card comes back Saturday, featuring not only the track’s marquee event, the $50,000 Phoenix Gold Cup, but four other stakes: the $50,000 Cotton Fitzsimmons Handicap, the 50,000 Turf Paradise Derby, the $50,000 Arizona Oaks, and the $50,000 Queen of the Green Handicap.

Undefeated Good Cheer a very short price in Fair Grounds Oaks

Good Cheer wins Golden Rod at CD Nov 30 2024

Good Cheer is 5 for 5 with all of her wins coming by daylight margins. She has won a pair of Grade 2s, the Golden Rod and Rachel Alexandra.

NEW ORLEANS – With every success, the prices have gotten shorter on Brad Cox-trained winners of the Fair Grounds Oaks. Bonnie South captured the 2020 renewal at 6-1. Travel Column went off at 2-1 a year later. Tarifa last March got home as the 3-2 favorite, but that’s nothing close to the level of support for Cox’s entrant in this Fair Grounds Oaks.

Francisco Martinez also is aiming for a return in early May.

Jockeys Francisco Martinez and Jorge Vargas Jr. are working toward returns to the saddle after sustaining injuries in a spill at Parx Racing last month. Both riders are receiving treatment and hope to return to racing in May.

Martinez and Vargas were unseated in the third race on Feb. 5 at Parx. Vargas was riding 5-year-old mare Sudoku Terry when the horse fell on the first turn, causing a spill that took down Martinez and 4-year-old filly Alma Brilha.
