HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Friday was a busy morning for trainer Todd Pletcher at his winter home at the Palm Beach Downs training center, starting just before dawn with the first of three full sets of workers that included one of his three Kentucky Derby hopefuls, Louisiana Derby winner Noble Indy.

Wood win a goal in itself for Enticed

Enticed has already accumulated 63 points toward the Kentucky Derby, and his berth in the May 5 race is secure.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Though Enticed already has enough points to make it into the field for the Kentucky Derby, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin isn’t viewing the colt’s participation in Saturday’s Grade 2 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct as a mere prep race.

“We’re there to win,” McLaughlin said Thursday from South Florida. “It’s a very important race. The Derby is the Derby and it’s hard to win it no matter what. This becomes a million-dollar important race, not just a prep race.”

Enticed, Firenze Fire lead modest cast into Wood Memorial

Enticed earned 50 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby with a 2 3/4-length win in Saturday's Grade 3 Gotham.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Despite offering a $1 million purse and a great opportunity to qualify for the Kentucky Derby, Saturday’s Grade 2 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct drew a modest nine-horse field topped by Enticed, a perfect-trip winner of the Grade 3 Gotham, and the Grade 1 winner Firenze Fire. There are five horses in the field who would be eligible for a first-level allowance race.
