The answer was succinct, and honest. Asked Wednesday morning if Dream Shake would run in the Kentucky Derby if he could get in, trainer Pete Eurton said, “I don’t know what we’re going to do yet.”
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The connections of Grade 1 winner Get Her Number will be keeping close tabs on Kentucky Derby developments leading up to the May 1 classic at Churchill Downs.
Trainer Peter Miller said Tuesday that the race is on the horse’s radar after his troubled fourth-place finish in the Arkansas Derby last Saturday. Get Her Number earned 10 points to bring his total to 20, and sat 24th on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard on Tuesday.
Super Stock
Dialed In – Super Girlie, by Closing Argument
Bred in Kentucky by Pedro Gonzalez and P.J. Gonzalez ($70,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by Keith Asmussen and Erv Woolsey)
Super Stock put himself into the Kentucky Derby field by winning the final major points race, the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park. In the process, he also gave the sireline of the late, great A.P. Indy another representative in the race.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Brian Klatsky and his partners in BBN Racing have been agonizing over the Kentucky Derby points standings, but somebody tell them they can stop worrying. Hidden Stash, in all likelihood, will be carrying the blue and white silks of the far-flung ownership group when the 147th Derby is run May 1 at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
Hot Rod Charlie, the Louisiana Derby winner, will have Flavien Prat aboard in the Kentucky Derby on May 1, trainer Doug O’Neill said Monday.
Prat was aboard Hot Rod Charlie for a five-furlong work at Santa Anita on Saturday, accomplished in 1:01.20 for five furlongs.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Keith Asmussen, the 79-year-old patriarch of one of racing’s most successful families, was spending time on Sunday at the barn with son Steve Asmussen, as he has on so many mornings through the years.
But this visit was unlike any other.
King Fury ran back to the form that made him a stakes winner last fall when he splashed to an 18-1 upset Saturday at rainy Keeneland in the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes, a race that seems unlikely to produce a starter for the Kentucky Derby.
The $200,000 Lexington was a 20-8-4-2 qualifier for the May 1 Derby, but King Fury was among those who had no points coming into the 1 1/16-mile race, which was run over a sloppy track. Proxy, the 2-1 favorite in a field of nine, entered with 34 points, but after finishing an uninspiring fourth, he is not expected to proceed to Louisville.
