ELMONT, N.Y. - With few Grade 1 opportunities for 3-year-old fillies on turf, and with no dominant horse in the division, it came as no surprise that 14 were entered for Sunday's $250,000 Garden City Breeders' Cup Handicap at Belmont Park.

Only 10 will be permitted to run in the Garden City, run at nine furlongs on the inner turf course.

Louve Mysterieuse ships in from California for the $235,000 Canadian, a 1 1/8-mile turf event for fillies and mares. A French import, Louve Mysterieuse hasn't been worse than fourth in six starts this year for trainer Neil Drysdale, who sent her out to win an optional claimer at Santa Anita in February.

Feverish is fairest of the fair

POMONA, Calif. - Few attractions of the Los Angeles County Fair are more reliable than Feverish, a 6-year-old mare who returns Sunday to one of her favorite stomping grounds - the five-eighths-mile oval of Fairplex Park.
