A Fleets Dancer draws clear

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Favored A Fleets Dancer ($5) closed five-wide with a powerful kick to polish off his four accomplished rivals in the $160,950 Durham Cup Handicap at Woodbine.

A Fleets Dancer overhauled Kiss a Native nearing the eighth pole, and then drew off for a five-length victory. Kiss A Native was a neck ahead of 3-year-old Win City, who finished a clear third in his first try against older runners.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - In the $75,000 Summit Stakes at The Meadowlands, Unrestrained ($4.80) moved her record to 3 for 12, getting past Latour for the half-length win. Two-year-old filly Vinemeister ($17.80) also got a black-type win with her 2 1/4-length score over 1-2 favorite Just Le Facts in the $75,000 Storm Cat Stakes.

Freedom Crest upsets Skimming, Tiznow

ARCADIA, Calif. - Freedom Crest, a former $32,000 claimer, conquered California handicap stars Skimming and Tiznow in Sunday's $488,000 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap at Santa Anita.

The shock upset at 39-1 could lead to a start in the Breeders' Cup Classic later this month for the 5-year-old Freedom Crest, who was claimed by owner Calvin Nguyen in June 1999.

Delaware Township tops Sprint prep

ELMONT, N.Y. - Delaware Township reaffirmed his fondness for Belmont Park on Sunday while strengthening his credentials for the Breeders' Cup Sprint with an easy 3 1/4-length victory in the $250,000, Grade 2 Forest Hills Handicap before 6,210 at Belmont Park.

Hook and Ladder, who raced up close in the early stages, finished second, a neck in front of Yonaguska. Peeping Tom and Disco Rico completed the order of finish.
