Total Imapct scores a 1 1/4-length win over Olmodavor in the $750,000 Hollywood Gold Cup on Saturday.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Total Impact had developed such a habit of placing in major stakes that trainer Laura de Seroux watched Saturday's $750,000 from her San Diego county home, not expecting him to win.

She missed an eyewitness view of the best performance of Total Impact's career.

Given a ground-saving ride from jockey Mike Smith, Total Impact ($15.40) pulled clear in the final furlong to win by 1 1/4 lengths over Olmodavor. Even the Score, the 7-10 favorite, was third in the field of seven.

De Seroux was delighted to have incorrectly predicted the outcome.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. - Dream of Summer took the track from favored Elloluv right out of the gate, then turned back her remaining rivals in en route to front-running victory in Saturday's Grade 2, $150,000 at Hollywood Park.

The A Gleam was the stakes debut for Dream of Summer, but she was given an outsider's chance based on a record that saw her win 4 of 5 previous races on the main track. A fast opening quarter, and equally fast second quarter, was too much for her rivals to overcome.
