EDMONTON, Alberta - A field of eight 2-year-olds will start in the eighth running of the $75,000 Canadian Juvenile here Monday.
Since its inception in 1997, the Canadian Juvenile has been an early indicator of contenders for the Canadian Derby the following August. Some of the past winners of the Canadian Juvenile include 2001 Canadian Derby winner Fancy As and Taiaslew, who lost by a length to Raylene in the 2003 Canadian Derby.
Bossier City, La. - Validating her class advantage and highweight status, Due to Win outdueled Boomboomgirl down the stretch to capture Saturday's Cornucopia Handicap at Louisiana Downs. Dyna Del finished a nonthreatening third followed by Float and Sting. The race was contested over a sloppy maintrack after heavy rains forced the race to be moved off the turf course.
ELMONT, N.Y. - Two years after winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile with Vindication, Satish Sanan's Padua Stable will be back with a contender to win it again Oct. 30 at Lone Star Park.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Balletto became the first horse bred in the United Arab Emirates to win a Grade 1 race in this country in Saturday's $500,000 at Belmont Park.
Balletto, the 7-5 favorite, won the 1 1/16-mile race for 2-year-old fillies by three-quarters of a length over Ready's Gal. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Sis City, the pacesetter, in third.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Kitten's Joy won't be the only 3-year-old North American turf horse attempting to win a Breeders' Cup race later this month.
Artie Schiller, whose only loss in his last six starts came to Kitten's Joy, was confirmed as a starter for the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Mile at Lone Star Park on Oct. 30, trainer Jimmy Jerkens said Saturday.

Ramsey, who with his wife, Sarah, already had Kitten's Joy and Roses in May as major contenders in other Breeders' Cup races, now has Nothing to Lose as one of the probable favorites for the BC Mile on Oct. 30 at Lone Star Park.
