HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Jerry Bailey did not ride My Lordship for trainer Bill Mott in Saturday's $75,000 at Gulfstream Park. But it was some advice the Hall of Fame jockey gave Mott several months ago that might have gone a long way towards My Lordship's game one-length victory over On the Bus.

Comacina back on short rest in Dixie Flag

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - In winning the Interborough Handicap on New Year's Day, Comacina ran the race of her life off a 10-week layoff. Her trainer, Carlos Martin, believes she can run even better coming back in two weeks.

That's why Martin has decided to wheel Comacina back in Monday's $60,000 Dixie Flag Stakes just 14 days after she won the $70,955 Interborough Handicap over the inner track. Comacina will face nine rivals in the Dixie Flag, a six-furlong race restricted to fillies and mares that did not win a graded stakes in 2005.

New records set in sprint, route

Pie's Prospect wins the 9th race at Tampa Bay Downs and breaks the current track record with a time of 1:43.27.

OLDSMAR Fla. - Last week was one for the books at Tampa Bay Downs, with three track-record performances on display.

On Friday, Nick Zito sent Pies Prospect in from Gulfstream Park for his first race since April. The vacation must have done Pies Prospect a world of good, as in the day's ninth race he lurked just off the pace for five furlongs under confident rating by Jesus Castanon, moved up outside rivals to challenge leaving the turn, then drew off late to hit the wire with 5 3/4 lengths to spare.

Colt's last a subject of debate

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Handicappers will have to make a stand on Potrero Station in Monday's Bay Meadows feature.

A 3-year-old colt trained by Greg Gilchrist, Potrero Station seems the one to beat in a $40,000 starter allowance at six furlongs that attracted a field of five.

A $125,000 purchase, he did little in his first two starts, finishing seventh both times.

Cutie Sabrina by a nose

Friday the 13th proved unlucky for 1-5 favorite Halo Humor at Evangeline Downs on Friday night, when she suffered a narrow defeat to Cutie Sabrina in the $75,000 Lil' Liza Jayne Stakes, a 5 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana. Sixteen Grand finished third, followed by Collecteus and Gracie's Gem.

Breaking poorly in her first start since finishing fourth to likely 2005 2-year-old filly champion Folklore in the Grade 1 Matron Stakes at Belmont Park last September, Halo Humor spotted Cutie Sabrina several lengths in the early going.
