ELMONT, N.Y. - Classy Charm rolled to a four-length win over 4-5 favorite Sweet Symphony in the $65,650 A Wild Ride Stakes for fillies and mares Friday at Belmont Park.

Classy Charm ($12.80), with Mike Smith aboard for trainer John Kimmel, earned her fourth win in 19 career starts. The 4-year-old took charge with a strong inside move on the turn to pull clear. The time for the one mile was 1:37.69 on the fast track.

Chili Cat got third followed by Judy Soda and Cherry Bomb.

Sweet Symphony, last in the five-horse field, swung widest turning for home.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Up-and-comers clash with the old guard in Sunday's 28th running of the $100,000-added Mount Vernon Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares, scheduled for 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf course.

Fifteen were entered and 12 will run, and with less than a sixteenth of a mile to the first turn, post positions could be a factor, especially since a handful who ran in divisions of last year's Mount Vernon - The Lamp Is Lit (post 1), On the Bus (2), Nurse Culkin (4), Sabellina (5), and Little Buttercup (6) - drew favorably toward the inside.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The seventh race at Hastings on Sunday, a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies running for a top claiming price of $35,000, is one of the most unpredictable races on the 10-race card. Considering that none of the nine horses entered have won going the distance, and that only two have actually gone farther than 6 1/2 furlongs, it's difficult to figure who the actual favorite will be.

CALGARY, Alberta - Kaylee's Magic, champion of her division and Alberta's horse of the year in 2005, makes just her second start of the year in a field of six 3-year-old fillies in the Penny Ridge here at Stampede Park Sunday. The Penny Ridge boasts a $75,000 purse, up $25,000 from 2005, and goes at a mile, a sixteenth of a mile shorter than previous editions.

The Penny Ridge runs as the seventh race on the closing day of this 47-day meeting.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lawyer Ron, the millionaire colt who underwent minor surgery following a 12th-place finish in the May 6 Kentucky Derby, returned Friday morning to the Churchill Downs barn of Bob Holthus after being turned out for several weeks and is scheduled to return to light training Monday or Tuesday, said Holthus.
