Ah Day ($4.80), ridden by Jonathan Joyce, overcame being bumped at the start and exchanging brushes with runner-up Vikrant through the stretch to prevail by three-quarters of a length in the $51,050 Red Legend for 3-year-olds at Charles Town.

Justabit Shawklit came from just off the pace with a good run through the stretch to capture the $18,550 State Fair Derby at Lincoln.

Ridden by Armando Martinez for trainer Herb Riecke, Justabit Shawklit ($9) scored by 3 3/4 lengths, covering the mile in 1:38.60 over a fast track. Thoughtuwasatoad was second, a nose in front of Ope.

Ferocious Won, whose two most recent starts had been losses in second-level allowance races at 1-2 and even money, took to a muddy track and posted an upset in the 27th running of the Mike Lee Stakes at Belmont Park.

The Mike Lee, which carried a $100,000 purse, was the first leg of the OTBs' Big Apple Triple for 3-year-old New York-breds. Ferocious Won is eligible for a $250,000 bonus if he can also win the New York Derby at Finger Lakes on July 15 and the Albany at Saratoga on Aug. 23.

Gottcha Gold got the early jump under jockey Chuckie Lopez and cruised to a seven-length victory in the $65,000 Coronado's Quest Stakes for 3-year-olds at Monmouth Park.

Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr., Gottcha Gold ($33.20) ran the mile and 70 yards in 1:39.63 in his stakes debut.

Praying for Cash, the 8-5 favorite, finished second. Stretching out beyond seven furlongs for the first time, Praying for Cash lunged awkwardly from the gate and lost early position.

Hesanoldsalt was third.

Bright Gold won the $60,000 Buckland at Colonial Downs for the second straight year, defeating 8-1 shot Beautiful Bets by 1 1/2 lengths.

Ridden by Horatio Karamonos, Bright Gold finished the 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:01.95. and paid $4.20 to win as the favorite.

A 6-year-old trained by Mary Eppler, Bright Gold has won 11 of 30 starts.

Jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. broke his collarbone in a spill in Sunday's Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park, the third spill on the program.

Valdivia was injured when he fell from New Joysey Jeff in the stretch of the turf race. New Joysey Jeff was moving into contention near the eighth pole when he ducked out and unseated Valdivia, who was clear of the trailing runners.

There were spills in the two races preceding the Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap.

Canadian invader Sophie's Trophy improved to 3 for 3 when she came from far back to win the $40,000 Irish Day Handicap at Emerald Downs by a neck over Chestnut Lady. Langara Lass got up for third in the field of 10.

Sophie's Trophy ran the mile in 1:36.40 under Kevin Krigger and paid $5.60 to win as the favorite. A 3-year-old trained by Janet Armstrong, Sophie's Trophy increased her career earnings to $59,663. She won her two previous outings going 6 1/2 furlongs at Hastings.

Genre caught Niagara Causeway in the final yards to win Sunday's $128,200 Cinema Breeders' Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park. New Joysey Jeff, the 7-2 second choice, was closing ground on the leaders near the eighth pole when he ducked to the outside and unseated jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. Valdivia was taken to a local hospital with a broken collarbone.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Edenwold, last year's Canadian champion 2-year-old, recorded a 16-1 upset in the 147th running of the $1,003,200 on Sunday at Woodbine.

Josie Carroll became the first female trainer to capture the Plate, and it was the first win in the race for owners Jim and Alice Sapara. It was the second Plate victory for jockey Emile Ramsammy, who previously won in 1996 with Victor Cooley.

FDD Dynasty remained unbeaten after three starts with a convincing win in Saturday's $1,142,000 Ed Burke Memorial Futurity for Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos.

The win gave jockey G.R. Carter, Jr., a sweep of the two major races of the weekend. Carter won Friday's $137,700 Vessels Maturity aboard Be A Bono, the 2004 world champion.

FDD Dynasty ($13.40) finished three-quarters of a length in front of 7-5 favorite Blues Girl Too. He broke from the rail and led throughout, finishing 350 yards in 17.29 seconds. No Secrets Here finished third.
