It has been a long time between winner's circle visits for Formal Miss, who may finally have found the right spot to rectify that situation in Sunday's $60,000 Georgia Peaches Stakes at Calder.

The Georgia Peaches is a restricted stakes carded at one mile on the turf for fillies and mares who are progeny of Georgia Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association-nominated stallions. The condition gives Formal Miss, who has held her own against the best of the division on grass for the last several seasons, a class edge over the majority of her 10 rivals on Sunday.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Eight 2-year-olds will be seeking their first stakes victory in Sunday's $50,000-added Cavonnier Juvenile at the Sonoma County Fair.

Four of the runners enter the race off a maiden victory, three enter off a stakes try, and one, Coyote Moon, will be making his career debut.

Trainer Scott Lake has entered eight stakes at Charles Town this season, winning six and finishing second in the other two while collecting $242,990. Lake figures to pad his already impressive statistics Sunday, when he sends out strong contenders in three of the four stakes on Charles Town's card.

All four stakes, sponsored by the local Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, are worth $35,000 and give preference to horses who have raced recently over the local track.

Bestowed, Touched by Madness, and Legal Control - separated by less than two lengths as the first three finishers in last month's Da Hoss Stakes - are rematched in the $60,000 Polynesian at Colonial Downs.

At 1 1/16 miles, the Polynesian is a half-furlong longer than the Da Hoss. Unlike last time, when all three horses carried 120 pounds, Bestowed has been assigned an additional four pounds following his 1 1/4-length win.

A clean trip could help either Touched by Madness or Legal Control turn the tables.

The two fastest qualifiers, Dont Let Down and Eyesa Runner, have the class edge in the Grade 3, $53,190 Ford New Mexico Juvenile Challenge at Ruidoso Downs on Sunday afternoon.

Fastest qualifier Dont Let Down reached the Grade 1 stakes ranks at Remington Park when he was a very close third in the $677,000 Heritage Place Futurity on June 4. The gelding rallied in the final half of the 350-yard stakes, but the photo showed he came up a head short of winner First Carolina.

AURORA, Co. - Meadow Dancer is the solid choice to take home the honors in Sunday's $25,000 Colorado Breeders Stakes at Arapahoe Park.

Seven of the 12 entrants in the Colorado Breeders, a six-furlong race, will be making their career debut. That would normally make for a wide-open affair, but not if you count Meadow Dancer's impressive win here last time out in her second start. Trained by Monk Hall, Meadow Dancer destroyed a field of six statebreds in a five-furlong race July 10, going wire to wire to score by 14 lengths over a sloppy surface.

BOSSIER CITY, La. - In these days of allowance and optional claiming races with conditions so complex that you might feel like calling your accountant or attorney, a simple allowance for nonwinners of three races can be refreshing. Traditionalists will be treated to two such races at Louisiana Downs on Sunday - race 7 at seven furlongs on the main track and race 8 for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares at a mile on the grass.

AUBURN, Wash. - It is unusual for a 3-year-old maiden to run in a stakes, and that is especially true when the trainer who runs him is thoroughly familiar with what it takes to win such a race.

Trainer Grant Forster certainly qualifies as a stakes-savvy trainer, having won 14 stakes at Emerald since taking out his license in 2003, so it is interesting to note that he will saddle Brother Bobby for Sunday's $65,000 Seattle Slew Breeders' Cup.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Shillelagh Slew, fresh off a victory by disqualification in the Prince of Wales Stakes, seems made to order for the third leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, the $500,000 Breeders' Stakes at Woodbine Sunday.

A field of 11 Canadian-bred 3-year-olds was drawn for the 1 1/2-mile turf marathon, which is one of two stakes on the 11-race card, along with the $125,000 Shepperton.

FORT ERIE, Ontario - Tyler's Jewel, a newcomer to Fort Erie from Tampa Bay Downs this spring, is the likely favorite in Sunday's Parnitha Cup, a five-furlong dash scheduled for the turf course.

The Parnitha is the second of 18 Cup races that require at least three previous starts at the meet. Two Cup races restricted to 2-year-olds require two previous starts. Each Cup race has a purse of $30,000.

A full field of 10, plus six also-eligibles, is listed for the Parnitha. Preference was given to horses with the highest earnings in 2005 and 2006.
