Hollye Lynne experiments

Hollye Lynne is one of the most versatile horses based at Sam Houston Race Park. She has won around one turn and two, on dirt and on turf, and on the front end and from off the pace. Yet on Saturday night, Hollye Lynne will be trying something new. She will be making her first start in a turf route in the $50,000 Jersey Village Stakes.

The 1 1/16-mile turf race is for Texas-bred fillies and mares. Among the leading contenders in the 10-horse field are Wild Encounter, a stakes winner, and Boundus and Senora Tormenta.

Yonegwa hasn’t had the success of the Giants, but he’s become a road warrior nonetheless, having run his nine races at seven racetracks. A 3-year-old son of Kafwain, Yonegwa heads the $50,000 Budweiser Handicap at Sunland Park, a five-furlong event for 3-year-olds.

Charles said he will make a decision on Friday's program after talking with Ian Pearse, the Australian track consultant and founder of the Pro-Ride synthetic surface, who is working with Santa Anita officials on the renovation. The project consists of adding polymers and fibers to the one-mile main track.

Spectacular Malibu set for comeback

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - A disappointing result with his promising 3-year-old Cave's Valley in last weekend's Whirlaway Stakes hasn't deterred trainer Michael Trombetta from coming back to Aqueduct.

Trombetta said he is pointing Spectacular Malibu to Saturday's $75,000 Correction Handicap for fillies and mares at six furlongs. The Correction would be Spectacular Malibu's first race since Dec. 30, 2006, when she was beaten a neck in the Maryland Juvenile Fillies Championship at Laurel Park. Prior to that, she finished second in the Grade 3 Tempted at Aqueduct.
