OCEANPORT, N.J. – Sean Avery – the horse, not the hockey player – looked like a superstar Sunday in the $75,900 Longfellow Stakes at Monmouth Park.

After stalking the quick pace set by Awesome Son, Sean Avery took charge at the top of the lane and drew off to an 11 3/4-length win. The victory extended his winning streak to three, after missing all of the 2010 season.

Joe Bravo rode for trainer Allen Iwinski as Sean Avery ran the six furlongs in 1:09.27.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Favored Inglorious collared 10-1 shot Spooky Kitten in deep stretch to capture Sunday’s $500,400 Woodbine Oaks under leading rider Luis Contreras.

Inglorious ($5.20) rated kindly in the nine-furlong test for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies and raced in midpack on the outside on the backstretch. Spooky Kitten, who was supplemented for $12,500, set slow fractions of 24.89 seconds, 50.57, and 1:15.31 under Edgar Prado, with Bear It’s Time and Marketing Mix in close proximity.

Belmont Park: Dominguez wins six races, three stakes on card

Ramon Dominguez rides Hessonite to a 3 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 Cupecoy’s Joy Division of the New York Stallion Stakes on Sunday at Belmont Park. It was one of six wins on the card for Dominguez.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Ramon Dominguez won six races on Sunday’s card at Belmont Park, tying a New York Racing Association record for most wins on a single card. It was the first time it has happened in nearly 10 years.

Dominguez, who won three of the four stakes on the 10-race program, went 6 for 8 on the card, with a head loss in the $60,000 Easy Goer Stakes aboard Rail Trip and a third-place finish aboard Brampton in a starter allowance.

Woodbine: New Normal rallies late to win Alywow

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Getting back to Woodbine obviously agreed with New Normal as the turf-loving filly rallied from just off the pace to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths in Sunday’s 6 1/2-furlong Alywow Stakes.

With rider Patrick Husbands in the irons, New Normal tracked the pace of front-running Speightstown Lady and the pressing Classy Zip as those two appeared to have gotten away on her in midstretch.

Belmont Stakes: Mucho Macho Man works over Belmont main track

ELMONT, N.Y. – Jockey Ramon Dominguez on Sunday morning got acquainted with his mount for next Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, working Mucho Macho Man a solid five furlongs in 59.57 seconds over the Belmont main track.

It was the first time Dominguez was aboard Mucho Macho Man, who had been ridden to a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby and a sixth-place finish in the Preakness by Rajiv Maragh.

Prairie Meadows: Wild Jacob wins Prairie Mile marred by spill

Saturday evening's $60,000 Prairie Mile Stakes, for 3-year-olds prepping for the Grade 3 Iowa Derby on June 25, was marred by a tragic accident between the three-sixteenths and furlong markers.

Arcadian, winner of the Golden Circle at Prairie Meadows on April 23 for owner-breeder Pete Gallegos, suffered a fatal injury while battling for the lead, causing a chain reaction where Grant Jack, Hot Faucet, and It's My Party fell over him.
