Sunland: Twelve Twenty Two poised for repeat in Harry Henson

Twelve Twenty Two is a former California girl who has made herself at home in New Mexico. She has compiled a 6-for-6 record at Sunland Park, and on Sunday will attempt to extend her streak when she defends her title in the $100,000 Harry Henson Handicap.

Aqueduct: Live for Today back on main track

After two mediocre races on the inner track, Live for Today returns to the main track in Sunday’s $57,000 New York-bred first-level allowance feature at one mile.

Live for Today, a son of Mineshaft, won a one-turn mile maiden race over the main track by three lengths last November. From there, Live for Today finished fourth to Swag Daddy in the Damon Runyon and third to Swag Daddy in the Restrainor Stakes. Both of those races were a mile and 70 yards over the inner track.

It’s Tricky, Emcee put in works

It’s Tricky, winner of the Grade 2 Top Flight in her 4-year-old debut, worked four furlongs in 48.30 seconds Friday morning over the Belmont training track.

It’s Tricky is preparing for a likely start in the Grade 2, $200,000 Distaff here April 14. She also is under consideration for the Grade 1 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn on April 13.

It’s Tricky worked in company with Broome Street, a 3-year-old maiden. The two were basically head and head until the wire, when It’s Tricky finished about a half-length in front.

My Adonis looks sharp in Wood Memorial drill

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – While many of his colleagues were at Palm Meadows in Florida on Friday morning watching 2-year-olds breeze for an upcoming auction, trainer Kelly Breen was at Belmont Park watching a breeze show of his own.

Breen flew in from south Florida to watch My Adonis, runner-up in the Gotham Stakes three weeks ago, work five furlongs over the Belmont Park training track in preparation for a start in the $1 million Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on April 7.

Oaklawn Park: All About Allie has options after stakes fails to fill

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – All About Allie was willing, but the race was not able.

Entered in the $60,000 Arkansas Breeders for Sunday at Oaklawn Park, the five-time stakes winner was set to make a rare start around two turns in the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares. But the stakes did not draw sufficient entries. Instead, the feature Sunday will be a $62,500 optional claiming sprint that drew two horses that were entered in the $75,000 Hot Springs Stakes here Saturday, Prime Objecitve and Outta Tune.

Gulfstream: Five Star Momma, Aubby K return from long break

Sunday’s $60,000 Touch Gold Stakes at Gulfstream Park, carded at five furlongs on the turf, had to be scrapped due to lack of interest. A trio of allowance races will fill the void, including a five-furlong optional claimer on the grass that lured a field of eight, including three who had been entered in the Touch Gold – Western Prospector, Dream of Atlantis, and Speight the Halo. The race will also mark the U.S. debut of the multiple Group 3-placed Shintoh, who is trained by Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens.

Santa Anita: Longview Drive targets Santa Anita Derby

Longview Drive, sixth in a division of the Grade 2 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park on Feb. 20, is an intended starter in the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby on April 7, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said.

Owned by Steve Beneto, Longview Drive is winless in three graded stakes since recording his second stakes win in the Charlie Palmer Futurity at Fresno last October. Longview Drive was third in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes last November and third in the Grade 3 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita in January.

Santa Anita: Gomez feeling better, returns to action

Jockey Garrett Gomez returned to riding after a two-week break Thursday and was second and third with two mounts on an eight-race program.

Gomez, 40, injured his heel when he was unseated on the path between the paddock and the racetrack Jan. 8. He made his initial comeback March 9, but went back to the sidelines after riding one horse, citing soreness.

Between mounts Thursday, Gomez said giving his heel an additional 13 days to recover was the right move.

Santa Anita: Amazombie leaning toward Oaklawn's Count Fleet Sprint Handicap

Amazombie could be headed to Oaklawn Park for the Count Fleet Sprint Handicap.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Amazombie, champion sprinter of 2011, worked six furlongs in 1:13 at Santa Anita on Friday for a start in early April at Oaklawn Park or Santa Anita.

Trainer Bill Spawr said that Amazombie will make his next start in the $150,000 Potrero Grande Stakes over 6 1/2 furlongs at Santa Anita on April 7 or the $250,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap over six furlongs at Oaklawn Park on April 14.

Spawr said that he was leaning toward Oaklawn Park, “55-45,” but emphasized that a decision will not be made for another week.

Gulfstream: Reveron picks up Trujillo for Florida Derby

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Reveron already has one derby victory on his r é sum é . A Calder-based 3-year-old prospect, Reveron will try for a second derby win here at Gulfstream Park next weekend as one of the outsiders in the $1 million Florida Derby.

Reveron, a son of Songandaprayer, launched his 3-year-old campaign with a game half-length decision over Casual Trick in the inaugural Gulfstream Park Derby. He has made just one start since, finishing a wide-running third after taking the lead in early stretch of Grade 3 Sam Davis at Tampa Bay Downs.
