Uno Ducksy has run some of his best races at Lone Star, and on Sunday he will return to the local turf course for the first time since last summer in the featured fifth race. The allowance will be run over five furlongs on the grass, and it is for 3-year-olds and up.

Uno Ducksy won a $15,000 optional claimer at Lone Star last June. He then popped a career-high Beyer Speed Figure, a 90, one start later, when he won an allowance at Lone Star. Later in the year, Uno Ducky went on to run a solid fourth in the Grade 3 Woodford at Keeneland.

Remington Park will spotlight Oklahoma-bred Quarter Horses on Sunday, when it puts on four stakes for horses bred in the state. The races will be run consecutively, from the seventh through 10th, and they are worth more than $160,000.

Jockey Jamie Theriot is back riding at Louisiana Downs on a regular basis for the first time since 2006, and the move is part of a two-tier plan he’s following to strengthen his business for Fair Grounds. The second half of Theriot’s plan is a move back to Kentucky following the close of the Bossier City, La., meet in late September.

BALTIMORE – Of all the new experimental ventures attempted in the game of horse racing, few have been met with the enthusiasm of the Lady Legends for the Cure. Even the losing jockeys exult.

“It’s just great being with these girls, doing everything together, all the hospitality we get,” said Mary Russ Tortora, who Friday was aboard the runner-up, Bellagio, in the third annual Lady Legends for retired female jockeys at Pimlico. “It really is a great event.”

BALTIMORE – Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux was replaced by Ramon Dominguez aboard longshot Tiger Walk for Saturday’s Preakness Stakes after Desormeaux failed a Breathalyzer test at Belmont Park on Friday and was removed from his three mounts by that track’s stewards.

“We’re trying to run a professional operation and can’t have any distractions this weekend,’” Tom Millikin, general manager for Kevin Plank’s Sagamore Farm, the owner of Tiger Walk, wrote on Twitter. “We spoke with Kent and wished him well.”

MIAMI – Musical Romance was not only the filly and mare sprint champion in 2011, she was a workhorse to boot, making 14 starts during her Eclipse Award-winning campaign that culminated with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.

But if Musical Romance is going to defend her title, both in the Breeders’ Cup and for divisional honors in 2012, she’s going to do so without the same type of workload she carried a year ago.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A day before some of his fellow Kentucky Derby rivals race in the Preakness Stakes, Prospective got back to business at Churchill Downs Friday, breezing five furlongs in company with stablemate Stealcase in 1:01.20.

Although badly outrun in the Derby, finishing 18th, 34 1/2 lengths behind victorious I’ll Have Another, merely finishing the race is a credit to Prospective and his rider, Luis Contreras, after the horse clipped heels early.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Proud of My Roots has blossomed this spring for the barn of trainer Brian Lynch.

On Sunday, Proud of My Roots will be seeking to add a stakes-winning chapter to her heritage when she faces fellow Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies in the $125,000 Lady Angela at seven furlongs.

“This is her chance, to show us that she’s going in this direction,” said Lynch, who trains Proud of My Roots for the Ballycroy Training Centre of Steve Kemp.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Tarue Grit might be worth taking a stab at when he runs in a claiming race Sunday at Hastings. The $17,500 conditional claiming race for 3-year-olds and up going 6 1/2 furlongs drew nine horses and goes race six on the seven-race card that begins at 1:50 p.m. Pacific.

Trained by Lenore Dubois, Tarue Grit is coming off a fifth-place finish in a similar race, and his current form doesn’t stand out.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Kitty’s Got Class, who has never lost in restricted company, will meet Ontario-sired opposition Sunday at Woodbine in the $125,000 Lady Angela, a seven-furlong stakes for 3-year-old fillies.

Kitty’s Got Class graduated at first asking by eight lengths in September, and then took the Victorian Queen Stakes by six lengths Oct. 1. Three weeks later, she struck again in the six-furlong Fanfreluche Stakes, for which she got just a 58 Beyer Figure, which was well below the 70 she earned in the six-furlong Victorian Queen.
