Hollywood: Dynamic Host well spotted in Round Table

Shigeki Kikkawa
Dynamic Host, with David Flores riding, wins the Tokyo City Cup.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Dynamic Host could have easily started in the $150,000 San Juan Capistrano at Santa Anita on April 22. Dynamic Host would have more than likely been beaten in the San Juan Capistrano, a race that drew many of the circuit’s top turf marathoners.

Instead, trainer Art Sherman decided to skip that race with Dynamic Host in favor of Sunday’s $70,000 Round Table Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park. The Round Table Stakes is run over 1 1/2 miles on turf, and is a race that the 6-year-old Dynamic Host can win.

Churchill Downs: Amoss prefers turf sprint at home to stakes on road for Sum of All Parts

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mommas, don’t let your babies grow up to be horseplayers – except when you want them to take you to the track for a nice Mother’s Day brunch and hopefully tout you on a couple of winners.

Tom Amoss, whose 86-year-old mother allowed him to grow up to be a horse trainer, says he wishes he could spend the day with her, but he has business to tend to at Churchill Downs.

“We always go home [to New Orleans] to see her on Fourth of July weekend, so that’s what we’ll do again this year,” said Amoss.

Brilliant Speed was beaten by a loose-on-the-lead Little Mike in the Woodford Reserve.

ELMONT, N.Y. - Brilliant Speed, third in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve on Kentucky Derby Day, will make his next start in the Grade 1 Manhattan on Belmont Stakes Day, according to trainer Tom Albertrani.

Brilliant Speed was beaten three lengths by Little Mike, who surprisingly got loose on the lead in the Woodford Reserve.

“He ran very, very well,” Albertrani said. “He got bottled up at the three-eighths pole, and Johnny [Velazquez] thought it cost him second place. I think the mile and a half of the Manhattan should be to his liking.”

ELMONT, N.Y. - Royal Currier isn't a graded stakes winner, but there have been times in his career when he has run well enough to win one.
