Kip Didericksen, the retired jockey who won five national Quarter Horse riding titles between 1986 and 1992, is now a grandfather and real estate investor based in Idaho. But on Friday, he will be back at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico for the first time since 1995 to be inducted into the track’s Hall of Fame. Didericksen will be part of a 2012 class that is completed by trainer Heath Taylor, Four Sixes Ranch, and 2005 world champion DM Shicago.

Hollywood Park: Triple Bend distance should be ideal for Centralinteligence

The second stakes appearance for the 4-year-old gelding Centralinteligence went much better than the first.

On May 28, Centralinteligence, trained by Ron Ellis, finished a game second to Roman Threat in the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap over six furlongs. Back in December, in his stakes debut, Centralinteligence finished last of 10 in a trouble-marred start in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita.

Los Alamitos: One Dashing Eagle ineligible for $1 Bonanza bonus

There will be no $1 million payout in the Los Alamitos Bonanza for 2012, the bonus that links the track’s three seven-figure futurities.

One Dashing Eagle, the winner of the $1,041,000 Ed Burke Million Futurity last Sunday, cannot run in all three races, which includes the Golden State Million in November and the Los Alamitos Two Million in December.

Because of a clerical “mistake,” One Dashing Eagle was not nominated to the Two Million. There is no supplemental entry stage.

Arlington Park: Team Block putting new filly on turf

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The last time Team Block bought an East Coast-based filly as a turf-racing and broodmare prospect, things worked out fairly well. Never Retreat, purchased early in 2009, went on to win nine races – five in graded-stakes competition – and more than $1 million for Team Block before being retired after her 2012 season. Now comes All for Thee, who Team Block bought at auction last November and who makes her first start for her new connections in the featured third race Friday at Arlington.

Hollywood Park: Little Mike gives California a try in Shoemaker Mile

Tom Keyser
Little Mike, winner of the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic last month, will make his first California appearance in Saturday's Shoemaker Mile.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Good luck trying to keep pace with Little Mike in Saturday’s $300,000 Shoemaker Mile at Betfair Hollywood Park, trainer Dale Romans said.

“I don’t think anyone will get in front of him,” Romans said. “If they do, they won’t finish well. He’s fast.”

Owned by Priscilla Vaccarezza, Little Mike has won 10 of 17 starts and $830,412.

Louisiana Downs: Love You Baby going back to dirt for Louisiana Cup

In just two career starts, Love You Baby has already conquered both racing surfaces at Louisiana Downs. Love You Baby will now head back to dirt for her next start, which is to come in the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies at Louisiana Downs, said her trainer, Ronnie Ward.

Hollywood Park: This Means War auditions for possible stakes at Del Mar

Benoit & Associates
This Means War could get a shot at next month's Sweet Treat at Del Mar if she runs well in an allowance Friday night at Hollywood Park.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – This Means War makes her debut against winners in an allowance race for California-bred fillies and mares at Betfair Hollywood Park on Friday evening, a race that will determine how aggressively she will be campaigned later this summer.

Second by a nose in her debut on April 28, This Means War rebounded to win a six-furlong maiden race by a length on May 26. Another win on Friday will have owners John Harris and John Nicoletti and trainer Dean Pederson considering the $200,000 Fleet Treat Stakes for 3-year-old California-bred fillies at Del Mar on July 28.

Churchill Downs notes: Jockeys pass on Saratoga to stay in Kentucky for the summer

Tom Keyser
Leandro Goncalves will take a trip back home to Brazil when the Churchill meet ends.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Since the era of Pat Day, the end of the spring meet has meant that the next stop was Saratoga for some in the Churchill Downs jockey colony. But after the 2012 meet ends Sunday, not a single Churchill jockey will ride regularly at the Saratoga meet that starts July 20.

“I can hardly remember a time when not one Kentucky jock went to Saratoga,” said Fred Aime, a longtime agent who represented Day for years and now works for Miguel Mena and Shane Sellers.

Belmont: London Company Stakes begins season's first twilight card

ELMONT, N.Y. – The feature race on Friday’s card at Belmont Park comes early – sort of– when seven turf-meant 3-year-olds kick off the first of three “Party at the Park” Fridays in the London Company overnight stakes.

The $90,000 London Company, scheduled for the inner turf at 1 1/8 miles, begins a nine-race card. First post is 3 p.m. Eastern, as it will be on the two remaining Fridays at the meet.

Easy Crossing, a $4,000 bargain basement colt by English Channel, looms the probable favorite for Christophe Clement, who also sends out Malibu Way.
