Belmont Park: Teeth of the Dog turns back Fast Falcon in Dwyer Stakes

Adam Coglianese/NYRA
Teeth of the Dog wins the Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes by a neck over Fast Falcon.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Gutsy stakes wins by Michael Matz-trained 3-year-olds are becoming routine around here, after Teeth of the Dog ($4) came again for a hard-fought decision over Fast Falcon in Saturday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Dwyer Stakes.

Coming off a win in the Easy Goer Stakes a few hours before his more-heralded stablemate Union Rags won the Belmont Stakes, Teeth of the Dog was in front early in the Dwyer under Joel Rosario, but acquiesced as Morgan’s Guerrilla was hustled up along the rail down the backstretch to grab the lead.
