Frolic's Revenge wins the Sweettrickydancer Stakes by a nose over Montessa G.

MIAMI – An inch was as good as a mile for odds-on favorite Frolic’s Revenge in Wednesday’s $55,000 Sweettrickydancer Stakes at Calder.

After winning her previous start, the Regal Gal, by 17 lengths, Frolic’s Revenge had to dig down deep before grinding out a nose decision over pacesetter Montessa G. in the one-mile Sweettrickydancer. Frolic’s Revenge, a homebred daughter of Vindication, ran down the leader, despite drifting out through the final sixteenth of a mile under jockey Luis Saez.

Get Serious, (right) with Pablo Fragoso up, wins the Red Bank, a race he also won in 2009 and 2010.

OCEANPORT, N.J. - Get Serious uncorked a vintage effort, holding off the persistent El Commodore by a half-length on Wednesday to capture the Grade 3, $101,000 Red Bank Stakes on the turf at Monmouth Park.

The victory was the first for the 8-year-old gelding since the 2010 Red Bank. In between, the New York-bred career winner of just under $1.1 million fell out of sorts because of a leg infection and a series of softened courses that compromised his front-running style.
On Independence Day, Get Serious boldly proclaimed his comeback.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Mr. Ornery produced one of the surprise wins of the spring-summer meeting at Betfair Hollywood Park when he won his debut in a six-furlong turf race at 40-1 on June 9.

The victory left trainer Marty Jones slightly stunned, and optimistic that the 3-year-old gelding can continue the success in an optional claimer over six furlongs on turf on Friday night.

“We thought he might need a race to get it figured out,” Jones said. “I think the grass helped him. He was pretty impressive the first time out.”

Shigeki Kikkawa
Mega Dream, winner of the Great Lady M Stakes, will seek her first graded stakes victory in the Royal Heroine.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Mega Dream, a $40,000 bargain purchase last fall, is unlikely to be in trainer Jeff Bonde’s stable very much longer.

The winner of her stakes debut in the Great Lady M Stakes over six furlongs on turf at Betfair Hollywood Park on May 27, Mega Dream makes her graded stakes debut in Saturday’s $150,000 Royal Heroine Mile.

The result of that race will determine how much longer Mega Dream is with Bonde and partners Barry Arnason, Jerry Durant, and Mersad Metanovic.
