Monmouth Park: Inspired key to Klassy Briefcase

The 5-year-old Inspired won the Fort Monmouth Stakes last month.

OCEANPORT, N.J. – Inspired will be the one catch in the $60,000 Klassy Briefcase Stakes on Sunday at Monmouth Park – if she runs.

Trainer Allen Iwinski is carefully weighing his options for the 5-year-old following her win in the Fort Monmouth Stakes last month. Inspired could turn up next weekend in the $100,000 Jennie Wade Stakes, a race she won by a neck over Bounding Bi last year. Or it could be a return engagement at Monmouth in the Klassy Briefcase for fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf.

Spice Swirl and Sookie’s Kookies are homebred half-sisters out of the Miracle Heights mare Shesaidsheknowsya, and they are owned by Roger and Barb Luebbe’s Shady Bend Thoroughbreds. The pair will go uncoupled in the wagering for trainer Brian Roberts as a trend of short statebred fields continues through the oppressive heat of this summer in Nebraska.
