OCEANPORT, N.J. – San Pablo rallied to win the Grade 3, $150,500  Philip H. Iselin on Saturday, giving Todd Pletcher yet another stakes win at Monmouth Park.

Pletcher has eight stakes victories to lead all trainers at the meet. Christophe Clement is next with four.

This was the second start at the meet for San Pablo who ran fourth as the 7-5 favorite in Grade 2 Monmouth Cup on July 7. He regrouped with a sharp overnight stakes win at Saratoga and returned to Monmouth once again in the favorite’s role.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Moonlit Beauty led all the way to take the $126,200 Victoriana Stakes with determination at Woodbine  on Saturday.

Moonlit Beauty ($4.50) broke alertly under Eurico Da Silva,  and set honest fractions in the 1 1/16-mile turf route. She had a 3 1/2-length lead at the eighth pole, and then held off a charging Reconnect to prevail by a head, in 1:41.85. Let’s Forget It was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third in the 11-horse field of Ontario-sired fillies and mares.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – I’m a Dreamer got a dream run before narrowly holding off a late run from Marketing Mix and made Hayley Turner the first winning female jockey in the 23-year history of the Grade 1, $750,000 Beverly D. on Saturday at Arlington Park.

Giving Europe yet another triumph in the International Festival of Racing, I’m a Dreamer was making her second start outside of the United Kingdom when prevailing by a head. The finish line came just in time for I’m a Dreamer, who was seventh of 10 for much of the 1 3/16-mile trip before moving boldly into contention.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – She may have run sideways in the stretch, but Questing vaulted straight to the top of the 3-year-old filly division Saturday with a dominating nine-length victory in the Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama Stakes at sun-kissed Saratoga.

Unleashing an arsenal of speed rarely seen by a 3-year-old filly going 1 1/4 miles, Questing, under Irad Ortiz Jr., ran her six opponents off their feet, and though she weaved in and out a couple of times in the stretch, she was a spectacular winner.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Bayrir overcame an awkward start to prove clearly best Saturday at Arlington Park in the 34th running of the $500,000 Secretariat Stakes, marking a second straight year that a European horse captured the Grade 1 fixture for 3-year-olds.

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio - Almighty O pressed the pace from the start while hung outside, matched strides with Klassy Korbin until deep stretch, then dug in late to edge clear by 1 1/2 lengths in the $50,000 Honey Jay Stakes at Thistledown on Saturday.

Klassy Korbin finished with determination and hit the wire on even terms with his stablemate Sneak a Cold Treat, who was closing in the four path, to dead-heat for second. It was three-quarters of a length back to Thats a Heckofacat in third.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -  One week ago, Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez bided his time tucked in behind the early leaders before driving Wise Dan to an explosive victory in the Fourstardave. On Saturday, Velazquez orchestrated a near carbon copy of that perfect trip aboard Point of Entry, who blew away his competition once finding a seam in early stretch en route to an impressive four-length victory in the $600,000 Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga.

I’m Steppin’ It Up, winless in five lifetime starts on grass but with a proven affinity for Delaware Park’s main track, capitalized when Saturday’s $54,500 Eight Thirty Stakes was taken off the turf and scored a wire-to-wire victory in the one-mile event.

Ridden by Jose Caraballo for trainer Anthony Pecoraro and owner Roman Hill Farm, the 4-year-old I’m Steppin’ It Up defeated 7-5 favorite Picko’s Pride in a field reduced to five by nine scratches. The winning time over a fast track was 1:36.07.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – At one mile and 5 1/2 furlongs, the American St. Leger Stakes is a longer race than North American bettors are used to seeing. But they figured it out. Jakkalberry, the class of the field and the 8-5 favorite, ran down pacesetting Ioya Bigtime to capture the inaugural edition of the $400,000 turf race.

It’s Tricky will go into next Sunday’s $600,000 Personal Ensign Invitational having gone three months between starts. Based on the way she worked Saturday morning over the synthetic surface at the Godolphin training center, fitness won’t be an issue when she squares off against Royal Delta in the Grade 1 race at 1 1/8 miles.
