ARCADIA, Calif.- Rumor is not the most durable filly, but she has proven to be a dangerous filly to dismiss.
Sunday, in the $98,000 L.A. Woman Stakes at Santa Anita, Rumor ended a three-race losing streak with a minor upset in the stakes for fillies and mares over 6 1/2 furlongs. The win left trainer Richard Mandella considering the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint here on Nov. 3 for Rumor, the winner of two stakes.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — River Seven graduated in style Sunday at Woodbine in the $224,800 Grey Stakes, winning the 1 1/16-mile route for 2-year-olds with determination under Eurico Da Silva.
Previously unbeaten Uncaptured, the 2-5 favorite, finished a fading sixth, which led to some large show payoffs in the Grade 3 event. River Seven returned $16.60 to win and $18 to show as the third choice in the six-horse field.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Balance the Books passed all 11 of his fellow 2-year-olds on the way to a popular victory Sunday as the odds-on favorite in an otherwise trouble-filled 22nd running of the Grade 3, $150,000 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland.
Balance the Books, with Julien Leparoux aboard, rallied farthest outside to avoid much of the stretch turmoil that occurred when the horse he narrowly defeated, 38-1 shot Really Sharp, raced erratically down the stretch, bothering several rivals.
“I saw all the trouble happening, but it did not affect me much,” said Leparoux.
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - Stel My Corona led throughout Saturday’s $382,000 Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders’ Futurity at Los Alamitos, scoring a half-length upset in her first major stakes appearance.
Stel My Corona ($26.80) ran 350 yards in 17.49 seconds under jockey Rodrigo Aceves, holding off a sustained threat from Jr Dynasty Mountain to win by a half-length. Far Niente, the 8-5 favorite, finished third, a head behind Jr Dynasty Mountain.
ARCADIA, Calif. - Acclamation, the champion older male of 2011, will miss the Breeders’ Cup Turf next month because of a recurring leg injury, trainer Don Warren told Santa Anita publicity on Sunday.
A nine-time stakes winner who has won his last seven starts in graded stakes, Acclamation is expected to stay in training for a 2013 campaign as a 7-year-old, Warren said.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Wise Dan came out of his latest eye-catching victory in good shape, trainer Charlie Lopresti said Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after the star 5-year-old gelding captured the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile by 2 1/4 lengths over the Keeneland turf.
“I knew I did the right thing by the way he ran,” said Lopresti, who did not confirm Wise Dan for the Shadwell until the morning before entries were taken Wednesday. Lopresti was hesitant to run Wise Dan because of the timing of the Shadwell, which came just 20 days after the gelding won the Woodbine Mile.
Due to a lack of entries, Northlands Park canceled Wednesday’s card. Racing secretary Jason Teague said he should have enough horses available for the final two days of the meet, which ends Saturday.
“We had a long way to go and I wanted to make sure we didn’t hurt Friday’s and Saturday’s cards,” said Teague.

Charal Kid earned a berth into the $750,000 Champion of Champions on Saturday night, when he won the first Grade 1 of his career in the $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap for Quarter Horses at Lone Star Park. The race was worth $41,250 to the winner, and also rewarded Charal Kid with an automatic berth into the Champion of Champions, a Grade 1 race to be run at Los Alamitos on Dec. 15.
