Churchill Downs: Sign disqualified from Pocahontas win after medication positive

Sign won the Pocahontas Stakes in November at Churchill Downs by four lengths in her most recent race.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sign, the promising 3-year-old filly bred and owned by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider, has been disqualified from her victory in the Grade 2 Pocahontas Stakes on Oct. 28 at Churchill Downs after testing positive for the banned medication methocarbomol, a Class C drug found in a commonly used muscle relaxant known as Robaxin.

Golden Gate Fields: Jockey Mangalee injured, one horse euthanized following spill

Jockey Navin Mangalee sustained a fractured right clavicle and minor concussion when his mount in Sunday’s sixth race at Golden Gate Fields, Thirsty for More, clipped heels with Blast the Cat and fell in the stretch.

Black Mango fell over the fallen horse, but his rider, Jose Delgadillo, escaped injury. Black Mango fractured his front right leg and had to be euthanized.

Mangalee was taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland for a precautionary CT Scan. There was no report of any injuries sustained by Thirsty for More.

Santa Anita: Game On Dude overpowers three foes in San Antonio

Game On Dude, ridden by Mike Smith, pays $2.10 to win after cruising to a 6 1/2-length win in the San Antonio Stakes.

ARCADIA, Calif. - Game On Dude was challenged for the lead for the first six furlongs of the $200,000 San Antonio Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday, a speed duel that would have softened many runners.

Game On Dude was not bothered. The leading older horse in California, Game On Dude shook off a pesky Basmati and had no competition in the final furlong, winning the ninth stakes of his career in the Grade 2 San Antonio.

Santa Anita: Mullins aims high with Temple's Door in San Marcos

Trainer Jeff Mullins, whose horse Wilkinson finished second in Saturday's Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita, has another contender for a turf stakes when Temple’s Door starts in Saturday’s $150,000 San Marcos Stakes over 1 1/4 miles.

“There is no option for him so you have to go,” Mullins said.

ARCADIA, Calif. - Suggestive Boy will have a 2013 campaign primarily on turf after a successful start to the season in Saturday’s $152,000 Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita.

A three-time Group 1 winner on turf in Argentina in 2011, Suggestive Boy won his first graded stakes in the United States in the Grade 2 Arcadia Stakes over a mile on turf.

The Florida Derby and the Louisiana Derby are among the possible races that will be considered for Revolutionary's final prep for the Kentucky Derby.

Revolutionary’s thrilling neck victory in Saturday’s Grade 3 Withers Stakes at Aqueduct not only earned him a spot on the Triple Crown trail, but it also earned him a trip to south Florida, where he will train while his connections plot out his next race.

 Revolutionary, owned by WinStar Farm, overcame a slow start and New York City-like rush hour traffic to get up in the final strides over Escapefromreality to win the Withers. It was Revolutionary’s second straight victory and it earned him 10 points toward qualifying for the May 4 Kentucky Derby.

Sam Houston: Solar Charge handles surface switch in Bucharest

Solar Charge, ridden by Roman Chapa, wins for the first time on grass in the five-furlong Bucharest.

Solar Charge won the first turf race of his career Saturday night at Sam Houston Race Park, when he rallied from off the pace to win the $50,000 Bucharest. He was moving back to the grass, where he had run second four times, following a runner-up finish in the $50,000 Spirit of Texas on the main track last month in Houston.

Solar Charge ($4.20) sat off the pace set by the filly Cowgirl N Up, who led through an opening half-mile in 45.44 seconds. Solar Charge overtook that one to cover the five furlongs on firm turf in 57.33 seconds.

Delta Downs: Heavy On Themister hits jackpot in $200,000 Championship

Rosie Napravnik rode two stakes winners on Saturday night's card, including the featured $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship aboard Heavy On Themister.

Heavy On Themister and his 32-year-old trainer, Shawn David, won the richest race of their careers Saturday night at Delta Downs, when Heavy On Themister pulled away to a 5 1/2-length win in the $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship.

The race was one of six stakes for Louisiana-breds on a program worth $1 million. There were also four rich starter races.

Santa Anita: Post 12 in Arcadia no problem for Suggestive Boy

Despite going wide on both turns Suggestive Boy carries Joe Talamo to a 2 1/2-length victory in the Arcadia.

ARCADIA, Calif. - An outside draw could not prevent Suggestive Boy from launching his 2013 campaign with a comprehensive victory in Saturday’s $152,000 Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita.

Breaking from post 12 in a field of 13, Suggestive Boy ($10.40) was three-wide on the first turn and four-wide on the second turn, but had enough momentum through the stretch to win the Grade 2 Arcadia by a convincing 2 1/2 lengths. Ridden by Joe Talamo, Suggestive Boy ran a mile on turf in 1:32.73.

Santa Anita: Guilt Trip's win in Strub completes big day for Baffert, Gary and Mary West

ARCADIA, Calif. – For years, around the time California mandated synthetic tracks, owners Gary and Mary West decided to race their horses exclusively on the East Coast, despite having a home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. They have since moved several of their horses to California, and on Saturday, they had their best day yet at Santa Anita since their homecoming.

Flashback won the Robert Lewis early in the afternoon, and then the Wests and trainer Bob Baffert put a bookend on the day when the improving Guilt Trip rallied to take the Grade 2, $200,250 Strub Stakes for 4-year-olds.
