Dance to the Moon has not visited the winner’s circle since Sept. 22, 2011, when she recorded her third straight victory at Woodbine.

On Tuesday, Dance to the Moon will be looking to end her 14-race drought when she faces seven rivals in Fort Erie’s $75,000 Rainbow Connection, a five-furlong turf race for Ontario-sired fillies and mares.

“The distance isn’t ideal, but it’s better than seven furlongs,” said Michael Doyle, who trains the 6-year-old Dance to the Moon for owner Scott Abbott. “It’s just an opportunity to try and win a stakes with her.

Kentucky Derby winner Orb had his third workout since the Belmont Stakes, going a half-mile in 49.20 seconds Saturday morning over the dirt course at the Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland.

Trainer Shug McGaughey, who attended the work at Fair Hill, said Orb shaded 24 seconds in his final quarter and galloped out five furlongs in “1:01-and-some change.” Orb worked by himself under exercise rider Jennifer Patterson.

DEL MAR, Calif. - Game On Dude, unbeaten in four major stakes in California and West Virginia, worked a half-mile in 48.60 seconds at Del Mar on Saturday, his first workout since a win in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup on July 6.

Trained by Bob Baffert, Game On Dude is the leading candidate for the $1 million Pacific Classic here Aug. 25. In the last two years, Game On Dude has finished fourth and second in the Pacific Classic.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Silsita certainly knows what to do around a photo-finish camera. The versatile 3-year-old filly posted her third career victory, all by the margin of a slim nose, when out nodding a game Broken Spell to capture Saturday’s $100,000 My Princess Jess Stakes at Saratoga.

Silsita, a 3-year-old daughter of Macho Uno, won her career debut by a nose last fall at Calder and the Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks by the same margin over the synthetic surface at Turfway Park in March.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Grade 1 Whitney Invitational Handicap won’t officially be run until 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 3. It could have been run 5:45 a.m. Saturday.

Fort Larned and Mucho Macho Man – definite starters for the $750,000 Whitney – and reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan, who is a doubtful Whitney starter, all worked at virtually the same time early Saturday over Saratoga’s main track.

Buff Daddy will try and make amends when he runs in an $8,000 claiming race for 3-year-olds and up Monday at Northlands Park. The one-mile race drew 10 horses and goes as the sixth race on an eight-race card that begins at 1 p.m. Mountain.

The Grade 3 Shuvee Handicap at Saratoga on Saturday appears to be at the mercy of Authenticity, whose last two Beyer Speed Figures of 103 and 102 dwarf anything her rivals have posted. She achieved those figures amid contested paces in the La Troienne and Phipps, and today she appears capable of setting softer fractions on her own.

DEL MAR, Calif. – Sprouts and Eddies Curl gave owner Paul Reddam and trainer Edward Freeman a sweep of the exacta in Friday’s $100,250 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Stakes at Del Mar, but only after the stewards reviewed Eddies Curl’s action shortly after the start.

Eddies Curl broke from post 4 and lugged to the inside leaving the gate, causing Pay the Debt and Evening News to be checked. The stewards ruled that Evening News had stumbled at the start and was not cost a better placing by Eddies Curl and that the interference to Pay the Debt was minimal.
