Two-time champion Beholder was declared from the BC Distaff last Sunday when she spiked a 104-degree temperature and was treated with penicillin, which cannot appear in post-race tests.
Beholder, the two-time champion who missed the Breeders’ Cup Distaff on Oct. 31 because of illness, has resumed training for a 2015 season.
Owned by B. Wayne Hughes, Beholder was briefly at trainer Richard Mandella’s stable at Santa Anita on Friday and early Saturday, long enough to undergo precautionary X-rays on her lungs. Mandella said on Saturday that the X-rays were “perfect.”
Saturday morning, Beholder was sent to Julie Adair-Stack’s farm in Chino, Calif., where she will undergo preliminary training for a few weeks before rejoining Mandella’s stable at Santa Anita.
