Jones, in limbo with I'm a Chatterbox, unveils new talent

Barbara D. Livingston
I'm a Chatterbox's winter goal is the Houston Ladies Classic, but Fair Grounds' quarantine may keep her out of that race.

I’m a Chatterbox is in the same boat as Gun Runner: a Fair Grounds-based star with an out-of-town target that might be out of range because of the EHV-1 quarantine.

I’m a Chatterbox’s only winter goal has been the $400,000 Houston Ladies Classic on Jan. 28 at Sam Houston, but that track is not presently accepting any horses from Louisiana, and the mare’s participation will hinge on how quickly the Fair Grounds quarantine ends, and how soon thereafter other states lift bans on horses coming from Louisiana.

Quarantine may keep Gun Runner out of Pegasus

Churchill Downs/Coady Photography

The colt is ready to run in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup on Jan. 28 at Gulfstream Park, but it is looking increasingly like he won’t get the chance.

Highway Star (inside) edges High Ridge Road to win the Go for Wand last month.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The cancellation of the weekend cards at Aqueduct due to severe winter weather forced two stakes races to be rescheduled.

The Ladies Handicap, part of last Saturday’s card, was redrawn Sunday and will go as race 3 on Friday’s nine-race card. Last Sunday’s Ruthless Stakes for 3-year-old fillies was to be redrawn Wednesday and will be run Saturday along with the Jazil Stakes.
