Dazzling Gem will face 13 rivals in the Sir Barton Stakes on Saturday.

Dazzling Gem, the talented 4-year-old dirt-route horse, is set to make his first start since March this weekend, but it won’t come Saturday at Fair Grounds. Dazzling Gem’s name appears among the entries for the $75,000 Tenacious Stakes, but he’ll start instead in a race Sunday at Remington Park, trainer Brad Cox said.

Cox still has Leofric for the Tenacious, and he also has two more stakes trophies after Inveniam Viam won the $100,000 Louisiana Ladies and Extra Credit the $100,000 Louisiana Turf this past Saturday.

Tiffany Lass next for Valadorna

Valadorna will likely next race in the Rachel Alexandra Stakes on Feb. 25.

Valadorna, the talented 4-year-old filly trained by Mark Casse, is entered in Saturday’s Blushing K. D. Stakes, but think nothing of it. Casse entered Valadorna in the race in case heavy rain in the New Orleans area on Dec. 8 played havoc with the Fair Grounds track. But races that day went off without a hitch, among them a second-level, two-turn dirt allowance Valadorna won by almost six lengths.

“We entered her again the day before she ran just in case something happened,” Casse said. “We’ll aim her now for the Tiffany Lass Stakes.”
