Barbara D. Livingston
Justify will miss the Del Mar summer meet after he was removed from training earlier this month.

DEL MAR, Calif. – The best horse at Del Mar won’t run here, and time is running out for him to potentially run again.

He was brought out for local television media here in the barn area on Monday morning, and trainer Bob Baffert did a group interview and then a number of live hits for various morning shows, and deftly deflected any questions regarding specifics on Justify’s next start.

Two trainers fined for medication violations

Trainers Vladimir Cerin and Matt Chew have been fined after each had a runner at Santa Anita in the spring test positive for two non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, according to recent rulings published by the Los Alamitos stewards.

Horses are allowed to be treated with one such medication at a time, according to California Horse Racing Board regulations.

Cerin was fined $1,000 after Roman Tizzy, who finished third in the first race on April 13, showed the presence of the analgesics bute and flunixin, also known as Banamine.
