Laughingsaintssong, who was one of the most impressive winners during the Louisiana Cup program last Saturday at Louisiana Downs, has a fascinating pedigree. And it’s not solely because he’s from the female family of champion Chilukki.

“He’s got a Quarter Horse sibling, a half-brother who won a $1 million race,” said Allen Landry, who trains Laughignsaintssong.

Monte Man may hit the road if trainer Ron Faucheux finds the right race.

Monte Man is back home at Evangeline Downs following a troubled fourth-place finish in the $50,000 Louisiana Cup Sprint on Saturday at Louisiana Downs with plans for his next race to be determined, according to trainer Ron Faucheux. The horse, who is the reigning Louisiana-bred of the Year, has the Louisiana Champions Day Sprint in December at Fair Grounds as a long range goal.

“There’s not many options in Louisiana,” Faucheux said. “We may tackle an allowance race outside the state. He has some conditions against open company and we might take advantage of that.”

If Sistercharlie wins the Beverly D., she will become the first two-time winner of the race.

The Great Day might scratch from Million to instead run at Del Mar

The Chad Brown-trained Robert Bruce (inside, above) and Sistercharlie were scheduled to arrive at Arlington on Wednesday.

All 10 pre-entered runners in the Grade 1 Arlington Million passed the entry box when post positions were assigned Tuesday, but at least one scratch was expected prior to the 1 1/4-mile race being run Saturday on the Arlington Park turf.

Trainer Arnaud Delacour said Wednesday that he most likely would bypass the Million with Argentine import The Great Day, who figured as one of the longer shots in the lineup.

“He probably will go to Del Mar next week instead,” said Delacour, referring to the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap on the Aug. 17 Pacific Classic undercard.

On the weekend of Aug. 5-6, 2017, he set a personal record by winning five stakes – three at Louisiana Downs, one at Mountaineer, and one at Saratoga.
