LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dale Romans walked down from his Churchill Downs box with arms raised in triumphant fashion. Joy and relief were among the swirl of emotions the 53-year-old trainer was experiencing in the immediate aftermath of his newest stable star Dennis’ Moment winning the Grade 3 Iroquois Stakes on Saturday.

“You know how it feels when a horse lets you down,” said Romans. “So when they come through like this one did, you just kind of let it all go. We’re extremely happy with him.”

Annals of Time injured, out for rest of year

Ronnie Betor
Annals of Time will miss the remainder of 2019 with an injury.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Annals of Time, winner of the Grade 1 Sword Dancer last month at Saratoga, has sustained an injury that will prevent him from running again this year, trainer Chad Brown said Sunday.

Brown said a decision on whether Annals of Time would race in 2020 as a 7-year-old would be made a later date.

“The horse needs a couple of months off, he’s going to miss everything the rest of the year, so we might as well give him an extended break and go from there,” Brown said.

In the Navy targets Remington Green

In the Navy drew off for a 3 1/2-length victory in Saturday's Frank L. Brothers Stakes.

In the Navy ran the race of his career earlier this month when he stepped outside the Louisiana-bred ranks and powered to a 3 1/2-length win in the $60,000 Frank L. Brothers on the undercard of the Super Derby at Louisiana Downs. Now, he’s headed to Oklahoma.

Trainer Scott Gelner said In the Navy is being pointed to the $100,000 Remington Green, a 1 1/8-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up on Sept. 29. It will be run on the undercard of the Oklahoma Derby.

“The first place he ever won on the turf was Remington,” Gelner said.

Pirate's Punch eyeing Oklahoma Derby

The next stop could be the Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby on Sept. 29 at Remington Park, according to trainer Grant Forster.
