But there was still at least one six-figure lot as Thursday's 10th session headed into the late afternoon.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - With more than 4,000 horses, the Keeneland September sale comprises a sea of yearlings. Sailing on this equine ocean, many a skipper has sunk because finding the good horses is no simple process.
Most careful observers have developed a plan of action or type of horse that they search for among the yearlings on the sales grounds.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Keeneland's September yearling sale continued its near-record pace as it entered its ninth of 12 days on Wednesday, with a $260,000 Fusaichi Pegasus filly the early session leader.
Lake View Farm bought the filly from Taylor Made, agent. The filly is out of Bet Twice Princess, a stakes-winning daughter of Bet Twice.
The 12-day Keeneland September yearling auction rolled into its eighth session Tuesday off successive gains from its first seven days. Though the daily top price was tailing off as the sale neared conclusion, six-figure horses were still passing through the auction ring.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the day's top seller was a $230,000 Silver Charm colt that Bob and Beverly Lewis bought from James Keogh's Grovendale agency. The colt is the first foal out of Extra Rare, a Texas stakes winner by Rare Brick.
Breeding stock from the late Gerald Leigh's famous stud will go under the hammer at this year's Tattersalls December sale, the auction house announced Tuesday.
Leigh's Eydon Hall Farm bred such horses as the 1994 Breeders' Cup Mile winner, Barathea, English classic winner Bosra Sham, and Group 1 winners Act One, Gossamer, and Markofdistinction. Leigh died in June 2002, at age 71. The executors of his estate and his children, Sarah and Robin, decided to offer "the vast majority" of his bloodstock at the December sale, according to a Tattersalls release.
Day 7 of Keeneland's 12-day September yearling sale continued the strong selling seen last week at the auction, even as prices took their usual second-week drop. With the select portion of the sale well past, the Keeneland September sale still was ringing up six-figure horses.
As of 5 p.m., the Monday session leader was a $230,000 Way West colt out of Conchita Villa, an unraced Pancho Villa mare. Gainesway, agent, sold the colt, who is from the family of Grade 2 winner Clever Secret, to Jay Em Ess Stable.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Keeneland September yearling sale took a day off Friday from its 12-day stand, interrupting a run of sales price increases.
The sale's first week ended Thursday with 30- to 40-percent gains over last year's opening days, when the yearling market in general suffered declines, especially at the top of the market.
California's Barretts sale company will accept bids via the Internet at two upcoming auctions.
Through an agreement with the Live Global Bid company, Barretts will take bids from online bidders at its fall mixed sale on Oct. 27-28 and at its winter mixed sale on Jan. 20-21, 2004. Both auctions will be broadcast live on the Internet from the Barretts sale pavilion in Pomona, Calif.
Maryland's breeding industry was shaken to the core when word came from the Pons family's Country Life Farm that perennial leading sire Allen's Prospect had been euthanized on Sept. 3, at age 21, following complications after surgery to remove a tumor under his jaw.
