WinStar debuts four Grade 1 winners

WinStar Farm is essentially adding a new constellation for 2021, with four Grade 1-winning millionaires debuting at stud among the five new faces in its stallion barn. Two of those newcomers will continue to build on one of America’s most prominent sire lines.

Into Mischief, Authentic form strong father-son combo at Spendthrift

Authentic likely clinched titles for 3-year-old champions and Horse of the Year with his victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic.

Fresh off claiming his first North American general sire title in 2019, Spendthrift Farm’s Into Mischief continued to raise the bar higher and higher for himself in 2020. He sired his first classic winner in Kentucky Derby victor Authentic. That colt went on to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic, one of two track record-setting winners on the program for Into Mischief, whose daughter Gamine also set a track record winning the Filly and Mare Sprint.

Dual-surface Grade 1 winner War of Will joins sire War Front at Claiborne Farm.

War of Will gave War Front, a popular international stallion and one of Kentucky’s biggest commercial standouts, a milestone first American classic winner in 2019. He later showcased his sire’s versatility by becoming a dual-surface Grade 1 winner, and will now get a chance to build his own legacy while continuing to bolster War Front’s reputation. This fall, War of Will took up residence alongside his sire at historic Claiborne Farm, after the Hancock family’s Paris, Ky., operation purchased an interest in the colt earlier in the year.

Maximum Security, Country House move on to stallion careers

Country House and Maximum Security will forever be linked in racing history by their run down the stretch at Churchill Downs on May 4, 2019. Maximum Security crossed the line first in the Kentucky Derby, but was disqualified for interference, marking the first time in the history of the Run for the Roses that the horse who crossed the wire first was disqualified for an in-race infraction. His demotion put Country House in the winner’s circle.

New stallions strengthen connections for Lane's End

Honor A. P. joins his sire Honor Code, by the great A.P. Indy, at Lane's End for 2021.

Honor A. P. was named in homage to his grandsire, Hall of Famer and breed-shaping sire A.P. Indy. He also bears a striking resemblance to his own sire, champion Honor Code. As Honor A. P. enters the stallion ranks at the Farish family’s Lane’s End Farm, sharing a wing with Honor Code and with the presence of the late A.P. Indy looming over all, he has big shoes to fill.

And he’s not alone.

Tapizar to stand in Japan for 2021

Tapizar tops the standings for second-crop sires whose runners have earned 90-plus and 100-plus Beyer Speed Figures.

Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner Tapizar, the sire of Eclipse Award champion Monomoy Girl, will stand in Japan in 2021. The stallion will arrive at Yushun Stallion Station on Hokkaido in mid-January, the Racing Post reported.

Almond Eye's star-filled family bodes well for success as a broodmare

In her final start, Almond Eye on Sunday wins the Japan Cup for the second time. She now heads for the breeding shed.

In a showdown of stars, Almond Eye ended her brilliant career with a victory in Sunday’s Japan Cup. She will head on to broodmare duty next season looking to carry on the legacy of one of the best female families in the world, that of 1982 Broodmare of the Year Best in Show. Stallion plans have not yet been announced.

Global Campaign won't run in Pegasus and will go straight to WinStar for stud duties

Woodward winner Global Campaign has upped his game at age 4.

Global Campaign, who had been under consideration for a final start in the Pegasus World Cup in January, will not resume training and has been retired.

WinStar Farm, which co-campaigned the son of Curlin with Sagamore Farm and which will now stand him in 2021, made the announcement Wednesday morning.
