Action This Day moving to Indiana

Action This Day, the champion juvenile male of 2003, is leaving Pennsylvania for Indiana in time for the 2011 breeding season.

Action This Day will stand at Joyce Baker’s Indiana Stallion Station in Anderson, Ind., for a $1,000 stud fee, down from the $3,500 fee he had this year at Dana Point Farm in Pennsylvania. Dana Point will continue to own the 10-year-old Kris S. horse, Baker said.

Mare tops $2 million at Tattersalls sale

Diary, the dam of European champion sprinter Total Gallery and carrying a Galileo foal, brought more than $2 million Tuesday at the Tattersalls December mare sale in Newmarket, becoming the highest-priced horse sold at a European auction this year.

The price in the local auction currency was 1.3 million guineas, or about $2,143,050.

Eurosilver moved to stand in Pennsylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Eurosilver, the sire of Sunday's Miesque Stakes winner, Neversaidiwassweet, has moved from Dromoland Farm in Kentucky to Penn Ridge Farms in Pennsylvania in time for the 2011 breeding season. He will stand for $3,500 in 2011, down from $6,000 this year.

Dromoland owner Gerry Dilger and partners will retain their ownership of the 9-year-old Unbridled's Song horse.

"Eurosilver already ranks among Pennsylvania's top 10 leading sires and is the number-two second-crop sire in the state," said Dilger. "We are very excited about his prospects there."

Sadler’s Wells mare tops opening session at Tattersalls mare sale

A $1.5 million Sadler’s Wells mare looks set to produce her Sea the Stars foal in America after topping Monday’s opening session at the Tattersalls December mare sale in Newmarket, England.

The first session sold 161 fillies or mares for about $14,639,504. The figure in the auction currency, guineas, is down 19 percent from last year’s gross for 173 horses. The $90,928 average was down 13 percent, but median gained significantly, rising 37 percent to about $42,861.

Ten horses sold for 200,000 guineas ($329,700) or more at the session.

Zenyatta to parade at Keeneland on Dec. 6

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Zenyatta will parade for her fans Dec. 6 at Keeneland in Lexington before retiring to the Farish family’s Lane’s End farm.

The Kentucky public event takes place one day after the champion mare’s scheduled appearance to parade at Hollywood Park. She’s scheduled to arrive in Lexington about 3:45 p.m. Monday before boarding a van for Keeneland, where plans call for her to parade in the paddock about 4:15 p.m.

Unusual Heat to stand at Harris Farms for $20,000

INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Unusual Heat, who leads California’s stallions in progeny earnings, will stand for $20,000 in 2011, the same as last year, according to the syndicate that owns the 20-year-old.

Unusual Heat will stand his first season at Harris Farms in Coalinga, Calif., in 2011, having previously stood at Old English Rancho in Sanger, Calif.

Through Thursday, Unusual Heat had 2010 progeny earnings of $4,218,570, leaving him 42nd on the national list. In 2009, Unusual Heat had progeny earnings of $5,184,194, and finished the year ranked 29th on the national list.

Broodmares kick off Canadian mixed sale

A total of 188 lots have been cataloged for the 2010 Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society’s annual winter mixed sale, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Woodbine Sales Pavilion.

Major consignors to the sale include Cara Bloodstock, Hill ‘N’ Dale Sales Agency, Longview Farm, Richard Moylan, Paradox Farm, and Woodlands.

The first 105 entries are broodmares, in foal to such stallions as Milwaukee Brew, Alphabet Soup, Sligo Bay and Wild Desert. They will be followed by the stallion Alystar Slew, and seasons to champions Mobil and Wando.

Airdrie to keep Indian Charlie’s fee at $70,000

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Uncle Mo’s sire, Indian Charlie, will keep his 2010 stud fee of $70,000 for the 2011 breeding season that opens in February, but that figure will drop to $63,000 for breeders paying by Nov. 1, 2011.

Vinery to increase fees of More Than Ready, Congrats

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Vinery will boost the fee of its flagship stallion, More Than Ready, from $30,000 to $40,000 but will cut many of its other horses’ fees in 2011.

More Than Ready stands at the operation’s Kentucky division and currently leads the juvenile sire list. The 13-year-old Southern Halo horse currently ranks among the top 10 on North America’s general sire list and has enjoyed success this year with such runners as Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Pluck and Juvenile Fillies Turf winner More Than Real.

Ashford sets Lookin At Lucky's stud fee at $35,000

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lookin At Lucky will start his stud career with a $35,000 fee, and Giant’s Causeway will drop in price from $100,000 to $85,000 in 2011, Ashford Stud announced Tuesday.

Ashford Stud is the North American division of Coolmore Stud.
