LEXINGTON, Ky. - The select yearling auction season opened Tuesday with Fasig-Tipton’s July sale in Lexington, where the sale-topper was a $310,000 Harlan’s Holiday colt bought by the late Jess Jackson’s widow, Barbara Banke, and George Bolton, Stonestreet’s former partner in Horse of the Year Curlin. Bolton also races Astrology in partnership with Banke.

Horsemen have nominated 107 horses to the Breeders' Cup through a program the organization implemented last year allowing owners to nominate ineligible horses through a special one-time fee, the Breeders' Cup said on Friday at the close of the program.
The Tattersalls July sale in Newmarket, England, ended Friday with gains across the board and a $294,000 top price for a 4-year-old winner by Cape Cross.
Shortened from four days to three this year, the July auction sold 457 horses of various ages for a gross of about $9,743,954, resulting in an average price of about $21,322 and an $11,540 median. Compared year-to-year in the local auction currency of guineas, gross inched upward by just over 1 percent, but average increased 5 percent, and median jumped by 17 percent.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The late Edward P. Evans estate’s complete dispersal, which will take place at Keeneland during the September yearling and November breeding stock sales, will include 244 horses, according to the catalog Keeneland issued Friday.
