Keeneland September sale catalog smaller by 11 percent

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Continuing this year’s trend of smaller catalogs because of a decreasing annual foal crop, the Keeneland has cataloged 11 percent fewer horses to its September yearling sale next month.

Spendthrift acquires breeding interest in Tizway

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Saturday’s Whitney result was hardly official before Spendthrift Farm in Lexington announced it has acquired a breeding interest in the winner, Tizway, who will retire to stud at the end of the season.

B. Wayne Hughes owns Spendthrift Farm, a historic Lexington nursery and stallion station that also announced earlier this week it had purchased Grade 1 winner Dublin to stand at Keane Stud in New York in 2012.
