SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Spending by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum and yearlings by third-crop sire Bernardini dominated the second session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga selected yearling sale on Tuesday night, propelling the two-day sale’s gross, average, and median to increases over last year’s comparable figures.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – All major financial indices for the first session of the bellwether Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale rose significantly following a quick night of selling on Monday, relieving fears that had been brought on by Monday’s precipitous drop in the stock market.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Saturday’s Whitney result was hardly official before Spendthrift Farm in Lexington announced it has acquired a breeding interest in the winner, Tizway, who will retire to stud at the end of the season.
B. Wayne Hughes owns Spendthrift Farm, a historic Lexington nursery and stallion station that also announced earlier this week it had purchased Grade 1 winner Dublin to stand at Keane Stud in New York in 2012.
