The Virginia State Fair and Meadow Event Park complex in Doswell, Va., including 1973 Triple Crown winner Secretariat’s birthplace, brought $5.35 million Tuesday at auction from a fair operator, according to local news reports.

Fasig-Tipton session led by $450K filly

Some familiar names from the 2012 Triple Crown races were featured in the pedigrees of high-priced horses Tuesday at Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic May 2-year-old sale in Timonium, Md.

The session-leader at 3 p.m. was Hip No. 332, a $450,000 full sister to Trinniberg, a Kentucky Derby starter who previously won the Grade 3 Swale and Bay Shore Stakes. Abdullah Saeed Almaddah bought the April 4 Teuflesberg filly from the McKathan Brothers agency.

Judge rules Jamgotchian owes Coolmore $394,000

A U.S. District Court judge in California has confirmed an international arbitrator’s ruling that Thoroughbred owner and breeder Jerry Jamgotchian should pay Coolmore Stud and related entities just over 310,000 euros, or about $394,000, in stud fees from 2007 and 2008.

Fasig-Tipton Midlantic's 2-year-old under-tack show concluded Thursday in Timonium, Md., with a Midnight Lute colt the day's fastest worker over an eighth-mile.

A dark bay son of Grade 2-placed Angel Trumpet, he went in 10 seconds. He is cataloged as Hip No. 311 in Breaking Point Farm's consignment.

Thursday's quickest quarter-mile time was 21.8 seconds, the time posted by Hip No. 300. A dark bay filly, she is by Sharp Humor out of stakes-placed A Girl Needs Cash, from the family of graded winner Careless Heiress. Bobby Dodd, agent, is the consignor.
