LEXINGTON, Ky. – Goncalo Torrealba, longtime owner of the Brazilian operation Stud TNT, has been collecting high-priced mares for a new breeding venture with his family, Borges Torrealba Holdings. He added a jewel to his new American broodmare band Wednesday when he paid $4.5 million for two-time Grade 1 winner Pure Clan. That was Wednesday’s highest price and the highest after two days of selling at Keeneland’s November breeding stock sale, which runs through Nov. 16.

Mandore International Agency continued a big week of buying Wednesday, securing well-bred broodmare Changing Skies for $4.2 million at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Multiple Grade 1 winner Pure Clan became the first horse to surpass the $1 million mark during Wednesday’s second session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale, and she finished well past it to produce the highest price of the sale so far, drawing $4.5 million from Brazilian-based Borges Torrealba Holdings.

Samantha Nicole will join her full sister, 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, at Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Stables after the wife of late owner and breeder Jess Jackson purchased the filly for $700,000 on Wednesday at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

Multiple graded stakes winner Redeemed will begin his stud career at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md., in 2013. His stud fee will be $3,000 when foal stands and nurses.

Florida-based stallion Kantharos will relocate to stand at Ocala Stud for the 2013 breeding season. A 4-year-old by Lion Heart, Kantharos previously stood at Vinery Florida for $5,000. His fee for 2013 will be announced at a later date.

While the first session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale showcased several high-priced, off-the-track racing and breeding prospects, the stars of the auction’s second day figure to be proven producers, high-profile weanlings, and a yearling that could top any price set at the recent yearling sales.

That horse is Samantha Nicole, a full sister to 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, who will sell fairly early in the proceedings Wednesday morning. The filly is the headline offering from the dispersal of successful owner-breeder Dolphus Morrison.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A day after Whisper Hill Farm owner Mandy Pope paid a world-record $10 million for Horse of the Year Havre de Grace at Fasig-Tipton’s fall selected mixed sale, she returned to action Tuesday at Keeneland, paying $4.2 million for 2011 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Zazu sold to Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm for $2.1 million during the first session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale, continuing the strong activity Japanese buyers have shown at Fasig-Tipton’s November selected fall mixed sale and at Keeneland over the past 24 hours.

The 4-year-old Tapit filly, who was sold as a broodmare prospect, had a banner year in 2011, winning the Grade 1 Las Virgenes Stakes and Lady’s Secret Stakes as well as the Grade 2 Hollywood Oaks. She finished her career with 4 wins from 12 starts and earnings of $691,985.

France’s Mandore International Agency continued an active week at Kentucky's two major fall breeding stock sales, going to seven figures to acquire Grade 1 winners Negligee and Shotgun Gulch during the opening session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale on Tuesday.
