Workers from several of the region's prominent farms are set to compete in a soccer tournament raising funds for Blue Grass Farms Charities. The tournament will be held June 23-29 at Dixiana Farm in Lexington, Ky.

The 4-year-old daughter of Japanese sire Deep Impact captured the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas) last year for her fourth straight win in as many starts, then finished second in the Prix De Diane (French Oaks) for trainer Eli Lellouche. Transferred to the late Henry Cecil in England, the filly was unable to capture that form in two starts this year.
The first starter for multiple Grade 2 winner and freshman sire King of the Roxy was a winner on June 16 when Prince of the Roxy drew away to win a maiden claiming race at Lone Star Park.
Prince of the Roxy completed the five-furlong race in :59.15 seconds to win by 2 1/4 lengths in his debut effort. Bred in New Mexico by Major Allen Howard, the dark bay or brown gelding is the first foal to race out of the Devil Diamond mare Josie’s Diamond. He is owned and trained by Bret Calhoun.
Millkom, a top-level winner in Europe and the U.S. who later sired Grade/Group 1 winner Milk It Mick, died on Monday at Girsonfield Stud in Northumberland, England. He was 22.
English-bred Millkom, a son of Cyrano de Bergerac and out of the Mummy’s Game mare Good Game, outraced his modest pedigree by a wide margin, winning 12 of 19 starts in four seasons and earning $705,678.
Cornett-IMS will assume the lead on marketing and communications for Lane's End Farm, the Versailles, Ky., breeding and racing operation announced Tuesday.
Cornett will assume operations as of July 22, taking over from Baker Communications.
