Shuttle stallion Indygo Shiner was euthanized the morning of Aug. 28 in Argentina after suffering an inoperable ruptured stomach. The son of A.P. Indy, who was 15, was about to begin another Southern Hemisphere breeding season at Haras La Quebrada in Buenos Aires. He stood the Northern Hemisphere season at Hill 'n' Dale Farm near Lexington, Ky.
Well-bred Indiana stallion Star Cat was represented by his first winner when Purrpurrpurr took a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight event at Indiana Downs on Aug. 23.
The 2-year-old bay filly stalked the leader in second early before making her winning move in early stretch and coasting to a 3 3/4-length score. She covered the distance in 1:07.09 and improved greatly from her debut effort Aug. 9 at Indiana, where she finished eighth in a five-furlong maiden.
English Group 1 winner and French stallion Creachadoir was represented by his first winner at stud on August 25 when What About Carlo won a one mile maiden auction stakes at Goodwood.
The bay colt is owned by Anthony Pye-Jeary and the late Mel Smith, and is trained by E. Johnson Houghton. Bred in France by Haras Du Logis and Julian Ince, What About Carlo is the first foal out of the winning Artan mare Boccatenera.
Multiple Grade 3 winner Mr. Nightlinger was represented by his first winner at stud on Aug. 23 when E Z Glider won a maiden claiming race at Evangeline Downs by 2 ¾ lengths.
The dark bay or brown filly completed the five-furlong race in 1:00.53 over a fast main track for owner The Five Horsemen and trainer Carl Deville. Bred in Louisiana by Cantrell Family Partnership Ltd., E Z Glider is the first foal out of the winning El Prado mare Adayinspain.
