Jazil to stand 2014 season in Venezuela

Jazil, winner of the 2006 Belmont Stakes, will stand the 2014 breeding season at Haras La Orlyana in Venezuela, BloodHorse reports.

The 10-year-old son of Seeking the Gold had previously stood at Shadwell Farm in Lexington, Ky. since his debut at stud in 2008, and relocates to Venezuela on a lease agreement with the farm. While Venezuela is in South America, the country is located above the Equator, meaning its breeding program operates on the Northern Hemisphere schedule.

Gainesway raises Tapit’s fee to $150,000 for 2014

Gainesway in Lexington, Ky., released its stud fees for the 2014 breeding season, led by Tapit, whose fee will increase from $125,000 to $150,000.

The Grade 1-winning 12-year-old son of Pulpit is represented by 123 winners this year through Nov. 6, including 11 stakes winners. Among his leading runners of 2013 are Grade 1 winners Joyful Victory, Grade 2 winners Honorable Dillon, Untapable, and Flashback, and Wood Memorial runner-up Normandy Invasion. He is also the sire of champions Stardom Bound and Hansen.

A pair of Gainesway stallions will stand for lower fees in 2014.

Street Cry, Bernardini, Medaglia d’Oro lead Darley 2014 roster

Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom will stand his first Northern Hemisphere season at Darley's Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky.

The trio of Street Cry, Bernardini, and Medaglia d’Oro will each stand for $100,000 in 2014 to top Darley’s stallion roster at Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Ky.

Street Cry and Medaglia d’Oro each stood for $100,000 in 2013, while Bernardini’s fee represents a drop from his 2013 fee of $150,000.

Belong To Me pensioned at Lane’s End

Belong To Me, sire of champion Forever Together, has been pensioned at Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky. The son of Danzig is 24.

Belong to Me is the sire of 788 winners to date from 17 crops of racing age who have total earnings of over $72 million. He has sired 77 stakes winners.

Point of Entry retired to Adena Springs

Point of Entry, shown training at Santa Anita on Tuesday, has not raced since winning the Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap in June.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Point of Entry has been retired from racing and, as was announced earlier this year, will stand the 2014 breeding season at Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs Kentucky in Paris, Ky.

The 5-year-old son of Dynaformer made his final start in the Breeders’ Cup Turf last weekend, finishing fourth. That marked a successful return for Point of Entry and recovery from a condylar fracture in his left hind cannon bone suffered last June while winning the Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap.

Ron the Greek sold to foreign interests

Ron the Greek, fourth in the BC Classic, will begin his 2013 season in the Sunshine Millions Classic.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Ron the Greek has been sold to undisclosed foreign interests.

Former co-owner Adam Wachtel confirmed the sale of the 6-year-old Full Mandate horse on Tuesday, and added that the horse may make another start or two overseas for his new connections before entering stud, although “nothing is set in stone.”

I Want Revenge to stand for $10,000 in 2014

Grade 1 winner I Want Revenge will stand his first season at stud in 2014 at Pauls Mill in Versailles, Ky., for an advertised fee of $10,000.

The 7-year-old son of Stephen Got Even won three of 14 career starts. His résumé is highlighted by a victory in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes, which was preceded by a win in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes. He entered the 2009 Kentucky Derby as the morning line favorite, but was scratched the morning of the race due to injury.

Flashy Bull to Penn Ridge Farms

Grade 1 winner Flashy Bull will relocate to Penn Ridge Farms in Harrisburg, Pa., for the 2014 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $4,500.

The 10-year-old son of Holy Bull previously stood at Airdrie Stud in Midway, Ky., where his most recent fee was $10,000. Airdrie Stud will continue to work in partnership with Penn Ridge Farms regarding the stallion.

Weinfeld, founder of Meon Valley Stud, dies

Owner-breeder Egon Weinfeld, founder of Britain’s renowned Meon Valley Stud, died on Tuesday at age 85, Racing Post reports.

Weinfeld founded Meon Valley Stud, located in Southampton, in 1980, and built an internationally successful stable of homebreds from foundation mares Reprocolor, Home and Away, One in a Million, and Odeon.

Highcliff team to launch Saratoga Stud in December

Saratoga Stud LLC, a full-service Thoroughbred breeding facility, will open in mid-December in Stillwater, N.Y., with the former Highcliff Farm team at the helm.

Saratoga Stud will be located on part of the 300-acre Irish Hill Century Farm, owned by Rick Burke. The operation will be headed by C. Lynwood O'Cain, DVM; his wife, Suzie; and Burke. Dr. O’Cain, as resident veterinarian, oversaw the breeding operation of the late Carl Lizza, Jr.’s, Highcliff Farm, near Amsterdam, N.Y., for 23 years, while Suzie O’Cain was in charge of stallion promotion and development.
