Multiple Grade 1 winner General Quarters will relocate to Pope McLean’s Crestwood Farm in Lexington, Ky., for the 2014 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $5,000, live foal terms.
The 7-year-old son of Sky Mesa previously stood at HallMarc Stallions at Stonewall Farm in Ocala, Fla. His first foals are weanlings of 2013.
“We are thrilled to get General Quarters,” McLean said. “He was a talented and versatile runner. He is an extremely handsome individual, and I know people will be impressed when they see him.”
The Iowa Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association will host its annual stallion season auction from Saturday, Dec. 7 to Saturday, Dec. 14.
The online auction features seasons to more than 140 stallions from 20 states, with donations still being accepted. The proceeds will fund three stakes races for all offspring of stallions whose seasons are sold at the auction: the 2017 Iowa Stallion Futurity and one race for 3-year-olds of each sex in 2018.
Winding Oaks Farm in Ocala, Fla., has released the advertised fees for its 2014 stallion roster led by multiple Grade 2 winner Graeme Hall.
The 16-year-old son of Dehere will stand for $4,000 during the upcoming breeding season, down from $5,000 the previous season. Graeme Hall is the sire of eight crops of racing age, led by Grade 2 winners Duke of Mischief and Designer Legs, as well as Grade 3 winners Hurricane Ike, Graeme Six, Tamarind Hall, Joes Blazing Aaron, and Who’s Up.
Grade 2 winner Big Band Sound has been retired from racing and will stand his initial season at Gulf Coast Equine in Sunset, La., for an advertised fee of $2,500 on live foal terms.
A 6-year-old son of Bernstein, Big Band Sound finishes his on-track career with five wins in 23 career starts for earnings of $402,560. Racing primarily as a turf sprinter in Canada, Big Band Sound earned his biggest victory last year in the Grade 2 Play the King Stakes at Woodbine.
The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) has accredited 20 additional Thoroughbred aftercare facilities, which are now eligible to receive financial grants from the TAA for the ongoing care of retired Thoroughbreds.
Romain Malhouitre has been named vice president and general manager of Runnymede Farm Inc. in Lexington, Ky.
Malhouitre, a former manager at Dixiana Farm and Woods Edge Farm, succeeds Martin O’Dowd, who will continue as a senior consultant with Runnymede while also operating a bloodstock and racing management venture.
Thoroughbred Charities of America will honor prominent owners John and Debby Oxley and the Retired Racehorse Training Project at its annual select stallion season auction on Jan. 4 at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Ky.

Millennium Farms in Lexington, Ky., has announced the advertised fees for its 2014 stallion roster, led by Even the Score, sire of Grade 1 winners Dullahan and Take the Points.
The 15-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song will stand for $10,000 in the coming breeding season, down from $12,500 in 2013. Even the Score has sired six crops of racing age, with additional leading runners including Grade 2 winner I’m Boundtoscore Grade 3 winner Four Gifts, Jamaican champion Sir Von, and Ecuadorian champion Vanessa Wins.
