Vessels Stallion Farm in Bonsall, Calif., a leading Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred breeding farm on the West Coast since the 1980s, was sold earlier this week to a private entity incorporated in Delaware, a person familiar with the transaction said on Thursday.
The farm was sold by the family of Frank “Scoop” Vessels, who died in a private plane crash in 2010. The facility will be renamed Ocean Breeze Ranch. A limited liability corporation called Ocean Breeze LLC acquired the property, according to a source.

The 5-year-old son of Tapit had recovered from a fractured sesamoid in his right front leg to race in 2015, but owner Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm noted on its Facebook page that the suspensory ligament that attaches to the sesamoid was at risk of coming loose, prompting the horse’s retirement.

Golden Ticket won stakes at ages 3, 4, and 5, posting his biggest victory when he historically dead-headed with Alpha for the win in the 2012 Travers Stakes. He also won the 2013 Prairie Meadows Handicap and the 2014 Left Bank Stakes, both listed events.
