Taylor Made to purchase Midnight Storm breeding rights

Midnight Storm wins the 2017 San Pasqual Stakes.

Taylor Made Stallions, in partnership with WinStar Farm, has entered an agreement to purchase the breeding rights to Grade 1 winner Midnight Storm upon his retirement.

The 6-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile is targeting the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on Nov. 3 at Del Mar. He is trained by Philip D’Amato for the partnership of A Venneri Racing Inc. and Little Red Feather Racing.

The big book era of Thoroughbred breeding has made it more and more difficult for stallions outside the mainstream in regional markets to follow in the footsteps of great stallions of the past like Mr. Prospector and Halo, or more recently Malibu Moon. With more than 100 Kentucky stallions covering 100 or more mares each year, that does not leave many quality mares for stallions standing in regional markets.

Disco Partner set a North American record of 1:05.67 for six furlongs in the Grade 3 Jaipur on Belmont Stakes Day.

Frank and Patricia Generazio were longtime supporters of the late Mid-Atlantic stallion Disco Rico, and have a chance to enjoy the dividends of that commitment with a pair of high-profile runners in this year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Disco Partner, who won the Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes on Saturday and holds the world-record time for six furlongs over the turf, is a homebred son of Disco Rico.

$1.5 million buy Curlin's Honor begins rewarding Casse's faith

Mark Casse has been high on Curlin’s Honor for a long time – even before he purchased him in May for a sale-record $1.5 million at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training at Timonium for John Oxley and Breeze Easy LLC.

The high-ticket colt rewarded his trainer’s faith, and began earning back that price tag, by battling on for a neck victory in his debut going six furlongs on Saturday at Keeneland.

Grade 2 winner Dramedy will relocate to River Oaks Farm in Sulphur, Okla. for the 2018 breeding season, where he will stand for an advertised fee of $2,500.

The 8-year-old son of Distorted Humor stood his first two seasons at War Horse Place in Lexington, Ky., where he was advertised in 2017 for $7,500. His first foals are weanlings of 2017, and he stands as property of John James Revocable Trust.

Grade 2 winner Holy Boss retired, will stand in Maryland

Holy Boss wins the Amsterdam Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths Saturday at Saratoga.

Holy Boss, a Grade 2 winner, has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Anchor & Hope Farm in Port Deposit, Md., for the 2018 breeding season.

The 5-year-old son of Street Boss won six of 22 starts for earnings of $771,527. His notable wins include the Grade 2 Amsterdam Stakes and the non-graded Chick Lang, Bachelor, and Duncan F. Kenner stakes, with placings in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt and Grade 1 King’s Bishop stakes.

Kitten’s Joy to move to Hill ‘n’ Dale

Ken Ramsey says he has received about 10-12 offers from around the globe regarding Kitten's Joy.

Kitten’s Joy, North America’s leading sire by general progeny earnings in 2013 and a perennial leading turf sire, will relocate to Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Lexington, Ky., after owner John G. Sikura purchased a 50 percent interest in the horse.

The 16-year-old son of El Prado arrives at Hill ‘n’ Dale on Monday, and will stand for an advertised fee of $60,000. He previously stood at the Ramsey Farm in Nicholasville, Ky., where he was advertised in 2017 for $100,000.

Charles and Susan Chu, who race under the name Baoma Corp., have been chosen as the 2017 New Owner of the Year by OwnerView, honoring a new Thoroughbred owner who has had success on the track and a positive impact on the industry.

The award recognizes an entity that has owned Thoroughbreds for less than four years, had an interest in a horse at the time it won a stakes race in the past 12 months, and has a verifiable owner’s license in the current year. It will be presented during OwnerView’s Thoroughbred Owner Conference, scheduled for Oct. 30–Nov. 1 in Del Mar, Calif.
